...that’s a little extreme for a friend. Not saying friendships can’t be that deep but most times it bc someone loves another a lot. Though Kou dying isn’t great...
So maybe Kou does have feelings for Mitsuba!! It would be really awesome to have a actual gay romance that wasn’t label yaoi but just another love story like a het couple. But honestly I’m not getting my hopes up. Their friendship is just as precious.
