like i said in my other post, imagine how much hurt could have been avoided if boston bruins management took 45 mins to contact the meyer-crotchers family two weeks ago

I know that there’s a lot of information circulating with the Bruins’ signing of Mitchell Miller so here’s a bit of a summarized version of everything:

When Miller was 14 he was involved with repeated abuse of a disabled black classmate and never apologized

Miller was drafted by the Coyotes in 2020 who then dropped him after the public backlash 

On Friday the Bruins signed Miller to an AHL contract (cannot play in the NHL with this contract) and there’s reports that other teams were interested

Bruins’ GM Don Sweeney said he’s not sure if the signing is the right decision and that he’s not sure if he’d be able to forgive Miller if it was his son who Miller abused

Gary Bettman said that Miller will not be allowed to play in the NHL and that the NHL was not consulted

The AHL was also not consulted and is in the process of determining if he will be allowed to play

Joni Meyer-Crothers (mother of the boy Miller abused) said that the Bruins had not contacted her and that Miller directly reached out for the first time to issue an “apology” on IG immediately prior to his signing

The Bruins players were not consulted on and are not happy with the decision to sign Miller

GM Don Sweeney declined to speak on Hockey Night in Canada while the Bruins/Leafs game was the HNIC game and players had to address the signing they had nothing to do with while in Toronto

Here are some snippets from Bettman’s statement on Miller’s signing:

“Before the Bruins made the decision to sign him, we were not consulted.”

“I happened to talk to Cam Neely since the time he was signed. He’s not coming into the NHL. He’s not eligible, at this point, to come into the NHL. I can’t tell you he’ll ever be eligible to come into the NHL.”

this whole situation is so sad and it’s just getting worse

not only did Miller downgrade the abuse by not even saying half this shit, but he had the nerve to call Isaiah his friend. and this whole thing is just bringing up horrible memories for Isaiah. Mitchell is a sick human being. how don sweeney ever thought this was a good idea is beyond me.

So to recap: Sweeney signed a former 4th round pick with a (juvenile) criminal conviction for committing a hate crime.

The fans don’t want him here.

Bergeron doesn’t want him here.

Bettman is saying he may never be eligible to play in the NHL.

The AHL commissioner is reviewing the circumstances.

So what the fuck is the point of all this??
