Such an honour to be asked to be a part of the very awesome “Mixed tape for a Desert Island” series put together by @mitchellprinters !! Myself and 11 other artist/illustrators got to choose a song for the tape and create a piece of art for it. I am such a huge music lover, and often get obsessed with certain songs and listen to them repeatedly while I work... this piece is for “Go Long” by the incredible Joanna Newsom. I have loved this song for years, but boy do I ever love it more now after falling down a seemingly endless rabbit hole investigating the complex references and symbolic meanings contained in the lyrics - Joanna’s work is so endlessly layered and deep, it blows me away.
