Willow mittens
2013-2020
For most pet owners, having a cat isn't just an owner-pet relationship. Having a cat is like having another member of the family. That's definitely what it was like with Willow Mittens.
Willow Mittens wasn't just a pet cat- no, she was Queen Willowessa Mittensalot when we played Medieval Princess Cats, brave Warrior Silverfur when we played Warrior Cats, and Fritters when we played Sonic the Hedgehog together. Mittsy was so much more than just a pet cat, she was my sister.
I am so, so sad to say that just an hour ago at around 11:01 her heart stopped beating. Earlier today she was lying on the bathroom floor in cardiac arrest, and the vet delivered the news only 1 minute after we arrived at the animal hospital.
Mittsy dealt with so much throughout her life, being born in a poor trailer park and eating pizza crusts and garbage to survive through her first litter of kittens before she was rescued and gave birth to her second. Mittsy dealt with kidney failure, bladder infection, and possibly and undiagnosed heart issue.
Despite it all mittsy was probably the best cat I ever had. I remember her sitting and watching me play when I got my first violin, meowing and singing along. I remember her dancing and playing with her feather toy and having so much fun. I remember when we accidentally left her outside on Christmas Eve and I thought she was a ghost when she came inside shivering and covered in snow.
And even though she might be gone now, I know that we won't ever forget the impact that she made on my and my family. Mittsy made us kinder, more compassionate, and gave us an appreciation for animals we never would have had before.
Rest in peace Willow Mittens. We will always love you.
