I may not be the exact same face those knew years ago, nor am I the same person... because we constantly GROW and CHANGE. Here are some fun facts for those who have just entered my world in past let’s say 6 years. From 2013 to current date I’ve had 4 major surgeries and countless medical procedures in different areas for different conditions or reasons. Prior to that I had about 4 between 2010 and 2013 (surgeries) and more countless procedures. All take a toll on a person in many ways. Clearly there’s weight gain and re distribution and loss sporadically depending on medication or ability to do as one used to do physically. I no longer play basketball or handball religiously which I loved and kept me fit. I barely even get to ride my bike like I used to (and even when I was almost daily it was dangerous) now it’s once in a BLUE. Everyone has advice on what they THINK based on their own experiences, not being in someone’s shoes. Not having access to the proper care when I needed it further damaged chances of repairing certain issues and or maintaining some things. Starting all over repeatedly is clearly frustrating but I keep finding ways. A primary issue I face is the amount of internal swelling I experience in certain areas due to conditions or post operative expected residual issues. Re injuring etc. it becomes almost impossible to expect to feel or look the same day in day out. To live in a body that constantly fights me, is already a headache. To live in a world where people are ignorant is worse. I am grateful for everyone who shows me love and appreciation no matter the chapter in this long journey, past or present. I love who I am past and present. When I make changes to regain control of situations and it’s noticeable I do naturally expect some will react, especially those who only are around for what they SEE and not what they KNOW. It boggles the mind.
