I'm black and white and am constantly asked "what are you" and people even guess my race. Guys are more excited when they think I am part asian or latinx and seem disappointed my "ethnic" side is just black.

Dad was white, most likely Irish. Mom (and her whole side) is Palestinian. If people guess anything about my heritage, it's Greek, Italian, always some sort of white. But I have always identified as Arab over white. 

Because my mom gave me my dad's very common last name (so I wouldn't be targeted/made fun of), people try to deny my ethnicity. I do have white privilege, but I have been targeted for my ethnicity, and it sucks. 

And people don't get that Arabs come in all kinds of gradation in color and features. 

I'm sorry, but I'm not "making up something" to be exotic. I'm not going to deny that I have white privilege, unlike other members of my family, but i hate being told, "just say you're white."
