i was having a conversation with my sister this morning about how people say “wow junji ito’s work is so horrifying and his personality is so silly, and hayao miyasaki’s work is so bubbly and cute while his personality is so dark and brooding!”
erm pardon me? if you take a look at any miyasaki movie other than like ponyo or totoro you can tell it was made by a man who was deeply jaded by war it should come as no surprise that thats who he is!!
and my sister was pointing out that junji ito’s work is like some of the silliest horror out there. ur telling me you read a story about a boy’s spine turning into a spring and him hopping around a graveyard on it and you dont assume a silly billy wrote that??
