I wrote out a little chronicle of my day teaching at Kadogawa Junior High School on October 31st! For folks who are submitting their JET Program applications next week, this is kind of what a typical day for a Miyazaki JHS Assistant Language Teacher looks like.
I also included some really amazingly embarrassing photos of a few past Halloween costumes, which are fun too.
In other exciting news, I've now heard from both my JET predecessor who is getting me SO excited to move to Kadogawa, and my supervisor at the town hall! So far everyone seems really nice and I've been assured several times that the Miyazaki prefecture is similar to California which I'm stoked about. I realized awhile ago that I'm basically obsessed with the ocean and the coast so to take me away from that might be a crazy nightmare. Also I think it'll help with the culture shock.
The SF JET alumni led orientation is less than a week away and I'm getting so so so so pumped! I can't wait to eat bento boxes and geek out with a bunch of new friends!
I just received my JET placement! It turns out I'll be living on Kyushu in the Miyazaki Prefecture, in Kadogawa-cho! I guess it's a pretty small town (19,000 people?) in the very south of Japan. It looks like it's on the coast which is super cool because I'm all about that sea breeze and apparently there's a lot of cool nature-y things to do! KADOGAWA YO!
Better start practicing my language skills!! Also, if any current JETs see this message, please reach out and tell me any wisdom you'd like to share! I can't wait to join you!
