❝ I have to figure out why my trap didn’t work. ❞
“Let me help you!” Richie volunteered, practically jumping over the van’s seat to try and get to his first-cousin-once removed. When they’d loaded into the van earlier, he’d drawn the short straw and ended up stuck next to Baby -- and while he knew that his big brother was basically bribing him to be a part of this gang so that he could keep his niece safe, he would much rather spend time with Leia instead. Leia was actually cool, and so was her mom -- and not for the first time in his life, Richie wished that his big brother had been the one to have a baby with Bailey J instead of cousin Milo. Or like, he at least wished that Caleb hadn’t had a kid with a psycho murder bitch, but he guessed his big bro had done what had to be done to keep Ofelia’s head from getting shaved.
Whatever. The past of Mystery Inc. was wild, and Richie was determined that this group would be a lot more normal. And maybe even solve more mysteries, which wouldn’t be hard, since by all accounts the last generation of Mystery Inc. had solved approximately 2, and even those had been largely by accident. Finally safely seated by Leia, Richie squinted at the drawing she had laid out in her lap, trying to figure out why the spring hadn’t flipped and caused the cage to fall on top of their suspect earlier. “Oh, here -- look, you accidentally put that it wouldn’t spring for anything less than 200 pounds, I think you meant 20,” Richie pointed, thinking that maybe he’d found it. “And hey, that narrows things down -- we’ve now got a weight estimate on our suspect, at least. Go team!” he said, holding his hand up to high five her, but Leia was ignoring him, already scratching notes onto her trap drawing so that they could execute things properly next time.
