Echidna Bio

A demon from the Netherrealm born to two fanatic worshippers of Shinnok. Echidna was pressured since childhood to be part of the Brotherhood of Shadow, having the Fallen Elder God’s ideals drilled into her until she went into training to become a sorceress for the Brotherhood in her mid teens.

She ended up forming a close bond with her mentor within the Brotherhood, as he genuinely cared for her well-being and was more like a parent to her than her biological parents. Her mentor also wielded an ancient magical weapon forged by Elder Demons: The Sleeping Scythe. He told Echidna that he’d pass down this weapon to her when he’d pass away.

The conflicts between Earthrealm and Outworld and the Forces of Light and Shinnok’s army passed and despite Shinnok’s defeat, the Brotherhood of Shadow still lived on. Echidna finally earned her title as a Sorceress in her late teens, becoming tasked with looking after and commanding dead Netherrealm beast spirits and being nicknamed ‘Mother of Beasts’.

Many more years passed, and Echidna’s mentor grew less and less faithful of the Brotherhood of Shadow’s ideals, beginning to view the fallen god as no better than Lucifer. His biggest regret however, was raising Echidna into the ideals he now saw was corrupt. This would drive him to magically travel to Earthrealm and perform a self-sacrificial ritual to transfer his weapon to a worthy Earthrealmer. With this being done behind Echidna’s back, she now acts to retrieve her deceased mentor’s weapon from the person who now wields it, joining with the Deadly Alliance of Quan Chi and Shang Tsung to achieve this goal. She knew Quan Chi was now acting in his own interests and not that of the Brotherhood’s…but then again, so was she…
