Kmart has done it again with its "Big Gas Savings"

Kmart has done it again! Kmart's previous viral Ship My Pants Ad became a hilarious tagline to its customers.

Kmart shows off its services in the form of an Advertisement video that mimics sarcastic, tongue-in-cheek, humor that gets the point across. Say it fast and you will get why.

In this ad, we see a diverse group of people complaining about the gas prices rising. Relevant to people who drive cars, Kmart is now introducing a promotional financial service exclusively to "Shop Your Way" members at Kmart, who will save $0.30 cents off per gallon at participating gas stations for customers who spends $50 or more at Kmart.

The deal Kmart is offering is money saving, but the main point is to make people laugh. And to think about the Kmart brand more.

Since #biggassavings is a play on words, how far is Kmart willing to go with its media buys without going too far with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC)?

Can't wait for what they come out next!

Have you ever felt left out of a great texting conversation with friends? Well Tay Allyn composed and created a music video dedicated to this, called "Mass Text." Yes! Another viral video gone wrong or maybe not. Maybe we all feel left out at one point in our lives. Her lyrics are really deep though.

The hook theme centered around the lyrics to her song are "Why didn't I get your mass text? I'm in your contact? (repeated 3x) . I really really really really really really really want to know."

The Youtube video shows Tay Allyn (USC grad, Theatre Major) exposing her inner thoughts and venting about not getting a mass text from a guy she has a crush on, because she is in fact stated in his contacts. 

The video was uploaded on July 16, 2013.  I kept track of the youtube views on 9/27/13 with 1,229,393 views. It currently has 1,915,807 views (12/7/13), an increase of more than +700,00 views in less than 3 months.

Rebecca Black has returned to the social media realm as a trending topic on Twitter with chatter after she released a sequel to her song "Friday" and its called Saturday! 

Friday was dubbed by the media and the critics as the "worst song ever," and it became a viral hit on Youtube and other social media sites. Rebecca achieved her fame as a Viral Star.

Through the harsh criticisms, Rebecca has become more comfortable with her singing career. And she has more confidence with her self. 

Say hi to the Haters because Rebecca released a sequel to her Friday "internet hit" with "Saturday." After watching the video, you could see that she owns it and she could make fun of herself, which is a good quality to have in the entertainment media industry. The song is also catchy with the relevant dance scene.

Lol, what we could make fun of her for is not knowing the days of the week as she keeps singing songs about them. Now where are the lyrics to the other 5 days.

To imagine the kind of pictures people are willing to post on social media. with Facebook you can kind of control who sees your posting. But in this case the pictures were shared on National TV.

I guess the point is: if you are willing to post certain type of pictures thinking you control who sees them....Think again!

I really enjoyed yesterday's Youtube presentation in class.

Youtube may not be a direct social media network where people connect, but thanks to this platform it enables videos to be shared on the connecting social media where people connect and comment. I'm not sure if it was mentioned in the presentation, but with youtube people may not connect but videos get rated on how many views and likes are received. For example Miley Cyrus's Wrecking Ball music video exploded on youtube with 337,646,576 views.

Psy’s new music video has broken another record on YouTube after Gentleman was watched over 100 million times.

The promo, which features the South Koran pop star pulling a series of cheeky pranks, has now had more than 114 million views since it was released on Saturday.

It has now become the fastest video to hit the 100 million views mark beating the previous record set by Susan Boyle singing I Dreamed A Dream.

A McDonalds Marketer quoted on viral marketing: “[It’s] One of the things you never really know until it’s out there.”

So this begs the question: Do companies script content to make it a hoax viral video?

This could be seen in the example “Pumpcast,” a comedic sketch by Jay Leno on The Tonight Show.

Well this actually happened in Burbank, CA. Anchor  Jack Rafferty surprises Will Sims and his wife Monifa from a TV monitor at a gas station. He then offers to pay for the couple’s gas if Will, then Monifa, sings. They agree, and turns out, they’re actually good singers!

The show although forgot to mention that both couples are actually trained actors and how they didn’t bring it in the segment at all is a bit sketch. With already 20 million views, and regardless of how legit the video is, it still is hilarious!

Now the question is, would you do it?

My own Virtual Closet

I have always dreamed of having my own walk-in closet, and I will keep dreaming about it! I remember watching the episodes of Hanna Montana (Miley Cyrus) in hopes of indulging in the scenes which contained her rotating closet. 

For me the purpose of a walk-in/or Rotating Closet is to facilitate the process of selecting outfits and the making of new ones with the pieces already there and add-ons. Being able to see all of your pieces and accessories makes it so much easier to do and less room to make a mess. Unlike a regular closet where one must pull out the pieces in order to see what looks good.  Thankfully there is Pinterest. I don't have to wait for a walk-in closet but with Pinterest it is like having my own virtual closet.

I feel I have a good simple style by using neutral colors which is safe. Since using Pinterest I have placed myself out of my comfort zone and have started to use brighter colors and combining styles in ways I never imagined.

It pays off when people I don't know need to stop me in order to complement my style. Every night before i go to bed i check my virtual closet and decide what i want to wear. Thanks to all the fashionistas out there who daily contribute to my virtual closet, making shopping easier than ever, and spend less by making new outfits with what i already have. I guess Pinterest is my favorite type of Social Media :)
