Just emailed off my first little article for MLA News to the editor of the Social Media column! Super excited, but also super nervous. Look for it in the August issue!

I still heart you, Tumblr
I have not been neglecting you, I've just been busy with workshops for the CADTH Symposium and the poster for MLA and CHLA! Lots of fun stuff to get on!
Welcome
Welcome to the Medical Library Association’s 2012 Twitter Tutorial. This is a fun way to learn about using a tool like Twitter and earn a free drink at MLA’s annual meeting in Seattle as well.
How it works:
This tutorial is open to all MLA members. It doesn’t matter if you will be attending MLA’s meeting in Seattle or not. Twitter is a fun way to share information as well as learn what your colleagues are learning at the meeting. Twitter is a powerful communication tool and can allow you to interact with meeting attendees and presenters.
To earn a drink ticket for use at the MLA Tweet-Up, scheduled for Monday, May 21, from 6-7pm you will need to complete the following activities:
1) Create a Twitter account (if you don’t already have one)
2) Complete the Twitter Tutorial Quiz in the Practice Swing area
3) Post at least three updates to Twitter using the MLA hashtag (explained in the tutorial) about what you are looking forward to at #mlanet12. Two tweets should be original and the third can be a reply or a retweet (either is fine).
Consider tweeting about which sessions you can’t wait to attend, who you want to see and meet or what you are looking forward to doing in Seattle.
Still want a drink ticket? Then we will need your name. Complete all the tasks outlined above and complete the quick survey below and you will be added to the ticket list. And yes, we will be checking to see if you tweeted.

Twitter Tutorial Completion Form
The Twitter Tutorial has closed. You can still join us at MLA in Seattle on Monday, May 22nd from 6:00pm - 7:00pm for the Tweet Up. Also Tweet us using the #mlanet12 hashtag and interact with your friends during the Tweet Up.
Getting started with Twitter is simplified with these 24 tips. Everything from including an image to responding promptly is on the list.
Searching Twitter for trends is one of the best ways to get up to the minute news and information. Twitter search is one of the fastest growing search engines on the web because it provides real-time access to information. Learn more about how Twitter search can be used from this Common Craft video.
