After jamming his right thumb during an at-bat Thursday against the St. Louis Cardinals, Washington Nationals starting pitcher wants a designated hitter in both leagues.
Scherzer, who signed a 7-year, $210 million contract during the off-season, is doubtful for his next scheduled start because of the thumb injury.
