Post #Mlima...🐘 Felt like visiting another country within Amurika and Awash Ethiopian restaurant took me on that culinary journey. 4.7 Stars going in and 5 Stars on my way out.🤩👍🏾🤩 Awash is named after an Ethiopian River and also means covered or flooded with water, especially seawater or rain. Amharic is the official language of the Ethiopian people and Fidel the alphabet. Queen #Menbi, "the" host and waitress supreme gave me an Ethiopian education, I won't soon forget. The cuisine was fresh, healthy, prepared to order and the ultimate dine-in delight. Open until 2am. It was a Cheers moment.🥰 Sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name. They do now!😀 Menbi was attentive, intuitive, vibrant with life and cultural pride. And extremely patient with my ev'ry question even instructing me on how to scoop my food with with INJERA, ənǧära እንጀራ, : or Biddena (87 Ethiopian tribes and Biddena is one of the Oromo languages). Injera is a sourdough-risen flatbread with a slightly spongy texture, traditionally made out of teff flour (Teff seed seen in the photo below). Injera is the national dish of Ethiopia and Eritrea. It is central to the dining process in those cultures as bread is the most fundamental component of any Ethiopian or Eritrean meal. The experience gave me all the feel goods you'd imagine in a home away from home experience. I'll be back. Can't wait to see my new friends again.👸🏿😘👸🏿 Pearl BlackPearl A New Voice in Conscious Art #ImTrippin #Chicago #AwashEthiopianRestaurant #EthiopianCuisine (at Awash Ethiopian Restaurant and Bar) https://www.instagram.com/p/B9JugGJpW4k/?igshid=6btpax0sg30
