Remembering and honoring the revolutionary humanitarian Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., who was murdered by a hateful white racist 57 years ago today (April 4, 1968). Despite how much his words are sanitized and co-opted to advance its white-supremacist-rooted agenda, Dr. King was despised, surveilled, criminalized, harassed and imprisoned by U.S. Government agents and operatives.
Images and information reposted from @gather4justice & @new_plaza_cinema We invite you to a special Revolutionary Reels screening of the documentary film MLK/FBI on Friday, April 4th at 6 PM at New Plaza Cinema [Macaulay Honors College] in NYC—marking the 57th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s assassination. The screening will be followed by a conversation with the audience moderated by our friend, radio host, civil rights leader and minister, Rev. Mark Thompson.
On this historic day, we reflect on the forces that sought to silence Dr. King and the urgent lessons for our time. MLK/FBI unveils the FBI’s relentless campaign to discredit and destroy Dr. King, exposing the deep tensions between power, surveillance and the fight for justice.
