On the 20th of July 2015, an ISIS suicide bomber attacked a solidarity convoy of young turkish leftists on their way to Kobane, to help with the reconstruction of the Kurdish city following the retreat of ISIS, who had besieged the city for months.

Sizler birçok cesaretli genç için birer örneksiniz."

Kızı Ivana ile gurur duyduğunu belirten anne Hoffmann, "Ivana bana yaşamın hiç tanımadığım bir parçasını gösterdi. Onun sayesinde Rojava ile tanıştım ve dünyaya farklı gözlerle bakıyorum" dedi.
