I’m working on making my own mlp puppet rig, but I’m drawing everything from scratch in Procreate and animating in ToonSquid— so I’m not using Flash, Adobe, or any rigging software and can’t really use references from it. I’m just trying to mimic the mlp style and learn to animate it if possible.
I was wondering if anyone knows of any breakdowns, diagrams, or references of how the pony puppets are usually put together? Like:
What parts need to be separate (head, mane layers, torso, flank, legs, tail, etc)
How they’re layered or pivoted
Anything that shows how a typical rig is structured
I’m not asking for full rigs or animation, just something I can use as a guide while I draw my pieces and set them up myself.
If anyone has reference sheets, screenshots, or could even help me make one, I’d be super grateful and I’m willing to pay a commission if it’s of any work or trouble to you!
