I’m working on making my own mlp puppet rig, but I’m drawing everything from scratch in Procreate and animating in ToonSquid— so I’m not using Flash, Adobe, or any rigging software and can’t really use references from it. I’m just trying to mimic the mlp style and learn to animate it if possible.

I was wondering if anyone knows of any breakdowns, diagrams, or references of how the pony puppets are usually put together? Like:

What parts need to be separate (head, mane layers, torso, flank, legs, tail, etc)

How they’re layered or pivoted

Anything that shows how a typical rig is structured

I’m not asking for full rigs or animation, just something I can use as a guide while I draw my pieces and set them up myself.

If anyone has reference sheets, screenshots, or could even help me make one, I’d be super grateful and I’m willing to pay a commission if it’s of any work or trouble to you!

I just had surgery a few days ago and recovery has made my love for drawing come back after such a long time!

Names in equestria (g4 mainly)

HOW DO THEY WORK?

Some ponies have canonical last names others we have no idea, but might be able to guess, but do you even have to have a last name in Equestria? We know for a fact that ponies with last name is do not have to take their husband or wife’s last name and can keep it separate like in our world. And that’s just for ponies like we don’t even know if zebras, yaks, dragons, griffins, hippogriffs, or changelings even have last names at all.

We know a few ponies full names even, but like do they have to have a first middle and last? If so, then what are the ponies last names that we don’t know? What are their middle names? Do they have to have one of their parents names if their parents have separate last names? Can their parents give them a whole new last name? Can they do that when they are old enough?

Like we know, twilight’s last name came from her mom because they had the same last name, but we don’t know if her dad has the same last name. We don’t know if shining armor has the same last name, what if twilight’s dad’s last name is armor and shining armor is two separate names? Is it Rainbow Dash or Rainbowdash? Is applejack’s last name Apple?

Does anyone have a canonical answer or a theory?
