The Strength of Intercontinental talent
We are blessed, yes blessed, that talent is strong enough that we can have such home-grown talent in our domestic league. MLS has been an instrument for the world to see talent that seemed washed up, come back with a vengeance. It had been an incredible thing to witness, not only for the fans but for the league and the players alike- seeing players thrive here, domestic talent more than anything. How often are we all, myself included, looking for Americans, Mexicans, Panamians, Jamaicans etc to come back so we can cheer them on at home? Not to mention making it more competitive because the Concacaf rivalries. I love our talent going to leagues around the world, to better themselves. I love as well, them coming back, being reborn and being recognized once more.
What’s really set that narrative off is our on talent coming back to this Intercontinental mix of leagues and putting soccer (football) on the map. The parenthesis were so necessary because soccer has finally arrived. This league is making noise and people are starting to pay attention. I wanted to make this brief, I think it important that I do... this league is now stomping into being one of the top leagues in the world. It used to be creeping into it, with the latest talents (domestic) being signed it really is only the beginning.
From Jozy to Jordan, to Chicharito to Clint Dempsey, the talents from home is why this league is thriving. Players like Zlatan and Nani, they are very important but to keep a league like MLS strong and continuously moving forward, recognize our own talent. Our players, here and elsewhere, consider the pride they would bring to specific fan bases and ride it like the fans most definitely will. You can’t tell me LA Galaxy aren’t going crazy with the signing of Chicharito. And just like him I’ve gone crazy for players like Mueller from OCSC. Time to enjoy what we have.
