Mira had been on a failed date that evening, one of the few times she dressed up because of the free use rule, which allowed people like her to be used sexually by anyone who wanted her. Being a plain Jane let you slip under the radar, so she’d deliberately pulled her hair up messily, worn sloppy clothes and used makeup to make herself less desirable.
