Ever wanted to transfer a character to another server but thought, “Jesus, why does this automated service that requires no Blizzard employee interaction cost so damn much?” Well now is the time my friends! Transfers, and other services, are 50% off this week so take advantage of it while you can, because after saturday Blizzard goes back to taking advantage of you.
Last weekend had RIFT account holders get their own free weekend in preparation for the June 12 launch of the game as F2P title. But it seems Trion decided to sweeten the pot a bit by extending the free weekend until that launch date... so... this means... RIFT is now F2P, just without the elaborate cash shop, but worry not, that'll be launching on the launch date of the RIFT F2P launch that has already launched. (Da fuq?!) However, RIFT's 2.3 patch, entitled Empyreal Assault, will still launch on June 12, but all current account owners won't have to pay a dime anymore. I'll be having a comparison post regarding the benefits and detriments of the conversion. Gloves off, I swear.
It appears as though Perfect World Entertainment is going to release a front end client that links all of you PWE accounts together in a way that NCSoft and SOE have done as before. The new service will use you existing account for log in purposes and friends lists will presumably be consolidated. But all of this leaves the question: Are their enough good games in PWE's library to warrent this?
It looks as if the legendary game creator Blizzard. is undergoing some rather turbulent times with it's super secret developement of Titan. Yesterday Blizzard announced that the game is suffering from a lack of signature polish and most core systems are being revamped, scrapped and/or reworked. The team size also dropped from over 100 to 30, suggesting that a good part of the game is being tossed out and a core group will continue on. The other 70 team members have been reassigned to other projects and Blizzard assures us that we wont hear anything about Titan until at least 2016. 2016!!!??? With F2P games making its way to the next gen consoles, Diablo 3 on PS4 and the direction in which Blizzard is moving, I can't help but think they are starting over to include console development. It seems we'll have no idea until 2016. When contacted, Blizzard apparently responds with this statement: "We've always had a highly iterative development process, and the unannounced MMO is no exception. We've come to a point where we need to make some large design and technology changes to the game. We're using this opportunity to shift some of our resources to assist with other projects while the core team adapts our technology and tools to accommodate these new changes. Note that we haven't announced any dates for the MMO."
Huge Updates Coming This Summer For SWTOR. Bruce Maclean has posted a summer development plan on BioWare’s official game forums. The update details the 2.2 and 2.3 patches releasing on June 11th August 6th respectively. The first patch will feature additional guild XP bonuses based on membership numbers (up to a maximum 10% boost), the ability for crafters to make underworld gear, and Nightmare Mode for Terror From Beyond (along with new gear drops). The second patch will feature “significant graphical upgrades,” a new daily area, a new recurring event, and new flashpoints. So my question is: Can Bioware continue releasing these rapid fire patches, maintain their level of polish and still continue growing it’s player base?
