A Darker Shade of Green // Chloe & Alexis [Boat Party]
As far as Chloe was concerned, the boat party had been a great idea. For the first time in about 6 months, she’d actually been excited to attend a party - even though she knew full well it was never a party in Stamford until some kind of drama kicked off. Things were starting to look up. However, although Chloe felt as if her and Finn’s relationship was really starting to return to some sort of normalcy, there was still always a shadow of doubt in her mind. Just like to her, Finn was always a good friend, always looking out for people, being the protective knight in shining armour. And of course, it made her proud but it also sometimes made her feel insecure. Why is ‘e wi’ someone like me? The words would appear as quickly in her mind as they vanished. But she knew those thoughts were always there and it was thoughts like that, that couldn’t help but fuel her jealous nature. That and the flamboyant cocktails she’d been drinking all evening. Swaying at the side of the dance floor, partly to the music, partly because of the alcohol, she spotted Finn talking to Alexis. Whenever she saw him she couldn’t help but smile. And then there was her.
Now really Chloe didn’t have anything against Alexis; sure the fact she was Stacey’s sister made her a little wary, but the girl had never been anything but nice to her. But that didn’t stop the negative thoughts swirling in Chloe’s mind. She watched the way they interacted. To anyone else it would have seemed innocent enough, but to Chloe a shade of green feel upon them and she started to tell herself that Alexis was leaning too close. Finn was smiling too much. She began thinking about the things she’d seen online too. The conversations between the two of them...that seemed more than platonic, didn’t it? Didn’t it? Finishing the drink she had in her hand, she waited until Finn had walked away from the girl before going over. Although she was smiling, she didn’t have any intentions of being friendly.
“Wha’ d’ya think ya doin’?” Chloe kept her voice low, the last thing she wanted was for the people around her to notice what was going on. “Ya do know ‘e ‘as a girlfriend, right?” She folded her arms across her chest. “I know ya get ta like, live tagether an’ all tha’ bu’ it doesn’t mean ya in a relationship.” The words were leaving her before she had time to really consider the consequences. Things rarely ended well when she began talking quicker than she could think.
“I had the biggest dinner out and now all this alcohol? Today’s the best day of my life!”
“Drink? You definitely look like you could do with a drink.”
“Sorry, ‘ope ya don’ mind me jus’ leanin’ on ya for a sec. These shoes are already killin’ me!”
