Privacy. As a monster of a child, most people - excepting matters of the utmost importance - left Gaara alone. Leading a village is not isolating work. As Kazekage, his attention is pulled in countless directions at a time on any given day: Something always needs to be discussed or read or approved; someone always needs an audience. It's more difficult now than ever to find some moments to himself.
Perhaps this is why, despite his increasing ability to sleep, Gaara still holds a special place in his heart for the dead of night.
