You and Frank meet because of Matt and the whole trial

It really wasn’t supposed to happen

Neither of you meant it too

One moment Matt leaves and you two are talking

And the next moment the two of you have feelings for one another

Frank is the one to ask you out and you say yes

Dates are casual, when they happen

He doesn’t try to hide any of the Punisher stuff from you

So most of the time dates stem from him coming over to patch you up

Matt doesn’t find out that you’re dating Frank for a little while

He knows something is up, he can tell, but he wants to hear it from you when you’re ready to tell it

He isn’t happy that you love Frank

He doesn’t try to convince you to end the relationship but he does try and get you to see the worst of what Frank does

But you set Matt straight by telling him that while you don’t necessarily approve of how Frank does things

And you don’t necessarily approve of how Matt does things

You know both of them do important jobs and you love and care about them both

Doesn’t stop Matt from talking to Frank and giving him one of the “you hurt them I’ll hurt you” speeches

But Matt can’t help but realize that Frank isn’t going to hurt you because Frank truly loves you

You had been in love with Matt Murdock ever since the two of you had been pitted against one another in a mock trial for one of your college classes.  The case had ultimately gone to you but it didn't stop a friendly rivalry from brewing that entire semester as Matt was out to win the next mock case.  At the end of the semester the two of you decided that the competition had made both of you better and that becoming study partners couldn't hurt.  From that day forward you and Matt Murdock were friends, and you became a frequent visitor of his dorm room to study with both Matt and Foggy.  The three of you became practically inseparable.

As you and Matt grew closer your feelings began to change.  Foggy was the first to notice how you saw Matt and tried to get you to admit your feelings but you refused.  You cited college and your course load as reasons for not wanting a relationship but in reality you believed that Matt could never see you as anything more than a friend.  Foggy continually told you that you were wrong.  He believed that Matt felt the same way and that the two of you were just to stubborn to realize it. Eventually the lies you told about college getting in the way of forming relationships came true when the three of you had to deal with internships so there was no more bothering you to admit feelings.

No that bothering stopped until Foggy began again in the first few weeks after you had opened the law firm.  For three lawyers straight out of college it was an ambitious move but you wouldn't have changed your decision.  Karen had been the first case you had all taken on and the first employee you had hired and even she began trying to get you to admit your feelings.  You blamed Foggy.  Not even the upcoming Valentine's Day was going to be enough to admit your feelings.  Or at least you had believed that it was going to be.

The first note appeared on the seventh. The next on the eighth followed by a small box of your favorite candy.  A note on the ninth with another gift.  A note and a gift a day all the way up until the 14th.

The handwriting was Matt's.  You had known him long enough to be able to know his handwriting and distinguish it from Foggy's forgeries.  The gifts had all been things you had either told him or little inside jokes between the two of you.  There was no one else who could have been giving you the gifts or leaving you the notes.  But the fact that Matt shared your feelings was shocking.  All the time you had spent arguing with Foggy, he had been right.

You were glancing at the last note on your desk when Matt sat in the chair in front of you.

"If you hadn't already figured it out, the gifts and notes were from me"

"I had figured it out.  You didn't need to Matt."

"I did. Foggy kept telling me to ask you out and I never did but I am now.  Do you want to go out to dinner tonight?"

"Like a date?"

Matt grinned, "Yeah, like a date."
