Ruhn the Dragon Shifter (PT. 2)

No one expects the feline mobian to also be a water-breathing sea serpent.

I'd probably point towards their tunic being the most difficult to draw when it came down to it- not counting the absolute disaster that was trying to blend in the orange of their fur before abandoning attempting to 'blend' it entirely.

Their feline mobian form is notably shorter than their sea serpent form (standing at a tiny 2' 8" compared to their sea-serpent form's 4' 10"), but both are shorter than their human disguise (which stands at 5' 0").

A few things:

The arm protection actually has a small clasp on it. If they undo the clasp, then a triangular segment of fabric can be flipped the other way to cover a chunk of the back of their hand (and palms, on the other side).

The silver cuffs on their ears are a holdover of the silver decorations on their sea serpent form's horns. These decorations are a family heirloom that Ruhn inherited with the passing of their mother (sea serpent mobian). They got their father (feline mobian) to make a pair of ear cuffs for their feline form's ears, so they wouldn't be without no matter which form they stuck to.

Their hair is relatively short and soft- but the orange segments are actually softer than the off-white.

The silver armlet (right arm- left of image) is meant to resemble water- a hint towards their sea serpent form.

This is the form Ruhn favors around all mobians.

They've never managed to find socks/shoes that they like wearing for their feline form, but they grew up pretending to be human- so they eventually settled for something akin to loose leather shoes for their feline form.

Unlike their sea serpent form, their feline form cannot naturally breathe underwater.

They are, however, far more in-tune with their above-water surroundings as a feline (such as being able to feel electricity better, sense when a storm is on the horizon, and not be quite as overwhelmed by strong scents).

Despite being in their feline form, they are still capable of firing off water breath as if they were in their sea serpent form. (It does, however, make them insanely thirsty if they use it in this form.)

While their sea serpent form naturally scares off standard cats, their feline mobian form does the opposite- tending to attract strays and calm kitties that come near.

Otherwise known as 'I put more effort into fins than I have in literal years'. Literally the part I am most proud of with their design. XD

Their eyes (when shaded/colored) would have a similar appearance to Toothless' from the first How to Train Your Dragon movie. I didn't include it because I felt wiped enough trying to get the fins to look right.

BUT! Ruhn is meant to be a dragon shifter/the last mobian on Earth, in an alternate universe take of Sonic X ('Shadow X'). Their parents are a sea serpent mobian and a cat mobian, respectively. Their abilities change slightly depending on form, such as their sea serpent form being able to breathe underwater/be far more durable than their cat form, but their cat form tires less easily above-water (sadly, their cat form cannot breathe underwater).

Their underwater breathing slits are basically imperceptible when not in use, hence them not being drawn.- And the gray on their horns are meant to be what little heritage they have left.

The theme for their sea serpent form is Watercolour by Pendulum.

Not sure if I'll work on their feline mobian design next, or their human disguise. We'll see what pops!

Sonic X Self-Insert - Kit the Cat

General

Name: Kit the Cat Nickname(s): Kit-Kat. Pronouns: They/Them. Gender: Demiboy (AFAB, top surgery completed, no intent on bottom surgery). Nation: United States. Age, D. o. B.: 30, February 21st XXXX. Sexuality/Romance: Pansexual/Panromantic.

Appearance

Height: 2' 8" Weight: 65lbs Body Type: Trapezoid Hair: Mostly white, short, with splashes of dark brown and caramel/honey-brown (like a calico). Hair atop their head is also 'short and choppy', but in a more humanized manner. Seems to stick up on the back of their head. Eyes: Dull hazel. Scars: Cut above left eye, cut from bottom of left cheek to just above their lip (left), burn scar on left hand, matching mastectomy scars on chest. Tattoos: None. Piercings: None. Faceclaim: Haruhi Fujioka.

General Description: Standing at 2' 8" (post-transformation), Kit is a devon rex/calico cat hybrid mobian with a long, thin tail. They have large cat ears- but no noticeable whiskers to speak of (though their muzzle is very furry and fluffy, and dotted with freckles that seem to somehow affect the color of a select few hairs on their face). They generally wear blue slip-on shoes, as well as shorts with a vast variety of pockets- though after their transformation, they took the opportunity to try to stop wearing shirts in public (not that it doesn't scare the ever-loving shit out of them). Beyond their scars and freckles, they did seem to keep their original eye color- which is a rather dull hazel hue.

Notable Features: They have freckles all across their cheeks and along their nose, but their cheeks are usually slightly rosy- which allows their freckles to hide, for the most part (like their fur doesn't, already). The majority of their scars (the noticeable ones) are on the left side of their body, but they do have an assortment of cat-scratch scars from earlier on in their life. There are various thin lines on their body where said scars are, that hair doesn't grow from. This gives their fur a faintly patchy appearance to those that notice the scarring. The fur is completely missing from their left hand (front-facing), due to their burn scar.

Personality

Positive: Alert, amiable, considerate, genuine, logical. Neutral: Absentminded, artful, determined, predictable, reserved. Negative: Aimless, anxious, compulsive, cynical, escapist.

MBTI Type: INFJ (The Advocate)

Likes: Dragons, fantasy, creepypasta, hard caramel candies, blue, strawberry smoothies, milkshakes, Red Bull. Dislikes: Most run-of-the-mill soaps, pink, PvP. Hobbies: Reading, gaming, bowling. Loves: Rain, petrichor, yellow, chocolate ice cream, walking. Hates: Flying insects, intense/serious competition, snow. Phobias: Cucumbers (side-effect of their species transition), deep water, immense heights, bees.

Inventory && Abilities/Stats

Pocket Contents: Pocket knife, wallet, hand sanitizer, carabiner (keys & an Optimus Prime keychain charm). Weapon of Choice: Pocket knife (eventually reinforced by Tails).

Ability One: Chaos Transferal - Kit, while they are initially unaware of this ability, can take either the latent Chaos Energy in the air (or in a given target), and transfer it to a target of their choice- so long as they are touching the source of the power they wish to transfer away from. Ability Two: Chaos Kinesis - Spawning from Chaos Transferal, if Kit ever got the hang of it, they would eventually gain the ability to make projectiles and the like by drawing both upon their own Chaos Energy, and that which would be in the air around them. Ability Three: Mobian Physiology - Due to being a mobian, Kit's body is far sturdier than that of a human. They can take a number of attacks that would normally break bones and come out with only bruises- or take what would be a fatal blow to a human, and only come out with broken limbs. They are also (for the most part) immune to fall damage, so long as they land on their feet.

Weakness One: Semi-Deaf - While Kit is not entirely deaf, they are very much not all-there in terms of hearing ability. They have a hard time understanding anyone who talks at a normal speaking volume unless the environment around them is absurdly quiet. As such, Kit has gotten very good at reading lips. They also know ASL, though they default to speaking English as opposed to signing.

Overall Combat Rating: 3/10

Note: Kit is neither trained in- nor brilliant at- combat, initially. Their speed (compared to Sonic and his friends) is utterly laughable, but they make up for it in being incredibly agile and sneaky- similar to a certain bat-friend of Shadow's.

History

Kit- originally Samantha- was raised in a home that seemed loving and caring on the surface, but underneath...was full of abuse. Not a day went by that they were not reminded of their use, that they were hurt if they dared refuse an order or try to find a place to remain calm and hide. A lot of their childhood was a mix of being treated like a slave by their siblings, and being ignored if they failed to meet the appropriate standards, by their parents.

Samantha couldn't stand it, and the moment they graduated high school- they fled their home. They managed to find a well-meaning stranger- Mr. Tanaka- who would quickly become a life-long friend. He helped them get on their feet, listened as they explained themself and how they felt- and even encouraged them when they chose to get top surgery, a few years later. He managed to convince his own employers, the Thorndykes, to take Samantha- now Kit- in as an employee. They were initially Mr. Thorndyke's assistant, but as the years went on, they shifted from that to helping out Mr. Tanaka and Ella- and eventually, from that to keeping Christopher Thorndyke company, as well as teaching him about the world.

Now, at 30, they are essentially paid to be Christopher Thorndyke's friend- though they do their best to still help Mr. Tanaka and Ella around the mansion (they got banned from helping either cook after they nearly set the whole building on fire...).

Notes

Their breed is a mix between a devon rex, a calico, and a few other unknown felines. When the world-shift happened thanks to Chaos Control, Kit's entire DNA structure basically got thrown for a proverbial loop.

They've known Mr. Tanaka for twelve years- as such, the two are really good friends, and Mr. Tanaka has learned how to interpret Kit's nonverbal moments.

Kit has 'shut down' and 'lock in' episodes, due to the way their brain generally functions.

They avoid crowds and parties to the best of their ability- only ever attending whenever they're invited by friends, or somewhere familiar.

Kit would love walking in the park, if the bees there didn't scare them half to death every time.

Due to their shitty upbringing, Kit tends to be factually honest- but rarely emotionally honest.

Their bedroom has more of a 'gaming' vibe, but the setup is basically like the above photo (at least, their bed and whatnot).

I finally gave drawing Node the Fennec Fox a real go, and this was the result!

I dabbled a little in a new signature for my art... May make another since that one felt rushed. We’ll see.

Still.. It was nice to draw the self-insert mobian. ^^
