I was just wondering: what if a younger girl (maybe a Rook in her twenties?) has a crush on 40 yrs old Jacob? :D Will he notice it? And how he will handle it? (Why, because JTR Jacob is hot as hell, that's why :D)
Oh, I am positive that totally happened frequently c: Along with the Rooks, Jacob had also recruited prostitutes as well, and seeing as he actually validated them as real people and not just sex objects, I’m also quite sure that there was probably at least several ‘ladybirds’ that ended up developing crushes on 40 year old Jacob ;) you can’t blame them though- for to have such a dashing gentleman such as him to come around, only to find out he just wants to help them instead of use them? My goodness, the love they probably had for that man was boundless, (and it makes me angry that Ubisoft only really exemplified this with Nellie- it’s been a while since I’ve played the DLC, but I’m pretty sure she had even pleaded in her interactions with Evie for her to find Jacob. Once again I’m not 100% on that though).
But to basically answer your question, ohoh boy Jacob would notice. By the time he was 40, he would be so dang experienced he could just take one glance at a woman at that point and be able to tell if she fancied him or not. One has to remember, Jacob may not have been the same carefree, lovable idiot we all know and adore in the beginning of the DLC because we get thrown in there when he was at his lowest point of absolute desperation and despair against Jack- but Jacob is still Jacob, and before shit his the fan you betcha he was quite the player with the ladies and totally using his charms (a key asset of his) to get what he wanted. We see that in game with his interactions with Mrs. Disraeli, so by the time he’s 40 he definitely had perfected his ‘charming ways’ by then.
As for how he would handle it, well, once again, we don’t know if he was even married at that time or not. I’ll just quickly say if he was married he would of course let the young woman down gently, and get her to understand he couldn’t return her affections for obvious reasons-
but now for the answer you probably do want: if he wasn’t married, Jacob wouldn’t mind, number one, (well, he actually wouldn’t mind if he was married or not as it would just be another boost to his ego), and he would probably end up considering returning her affections.
As long as they were over twenty I don’t think Jacob would care about age, but he would make sure that the young lady was aware he was twice her age and that, at least in his eyes, deserved someone much younger- someone not as beaten down by life as he was. (Ah yes, gotta have that impromptu angst) Not only that, but with Evie off in India, Jacob would have been extremely lonely, so if he really didn’t have a wife by his side, if anything, Jacob would be more happy than anything that someone still so young and pure found an interest in him. It would be the exact thing he needed- he would need that emotional support and that constant positive energy in his life, for he would basically have it all zapped from him if not from Evie leaving him all alone, then for sure when things started to go south with Jack.
Not gonna lie, I honestly lie awake at night sometimes just thinking about how depressed, lost, lonely, and misunderstood Jacob felt- especially considering it was discovered he was also prone to drinking in the years leading up to the DLC. I just, ugh, if anything I sincerely hope some young lady had fallen in love with him, because at that point Jacob would have had no positivity in his life, and just to know that- to know how alone he was and how hollow his life must have been- ah gosh, the poor baby, hopefully somebody had shown him some love!
