NEW STUDYBLR

Hello everyone!! I’m Grace and I’m revamping my studyblr so I thought It was time for a re-introduction.

Well, I was previously @studysinatra and completely failed to be consistent with my studyblr. I honestly don’t know what it was but this time around I’m trying to be more consistent and make more of my own original posts when classes start. I will admit I was intimidated by all of the pretty notes and aesthetic study spaces and bullet journal spreads and that made me feel unmotivated to even try to compete with that. I know now that that’s not what this community is about and I’m happy to try again. 

So, I changed everything about my blog including my url so welcome to @cosmichoneystudies I know you all will take good care of me and keep me motivated! (Oh btw my personal blog is @ohoneyluv and when I follow you all it’s from there so if you want to follow just my studyblr don’t follow that blog but @cosmichoneystudies Sorry if that’s confusing!)

Anyway let’s get this re-intro going with some facts about myself:

I’m 20 entering my 3rd year of uni

I was originally a psych major but I switched to social work because it just felt like a better fit for me and I’m really excited to start my major focused classes this fall!  

I have diverse music tastes and a strong preference for old school hip-hop,  doo wop, jazz, and swing.A few of my favorite artist include Frank Sinatra, Etta James, Brenton Wood, Tupac, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Mr. Capone-e and so much more! 

I also like some more present day artists like: Kali Uchis, Daniel Caesar, BJ the Chicago Kid, Chance the Rapper, and my favorite in the universe: Nicotine’s Famous Honey (Give them a listen y’all they make some groovy tunes) and Herrick and Hooley (I love them too!) I’ll update this post with links to their music but you can find them on soundcloud and spotify! 

I’m not a perfect studious person but I excel in what Will Smith calls, “Ridiculous, sickening work ethic.”  I give everything my all.

I’m a really good listener so if any of you are stressed or having a bad day or just need some conversation feel free to send me a message! 

I love poetry! But, slam poetry is definitely my favorite. I write sometimes disgustingly personal poems sometimes maybe one day I’ll share them with you one day!

First day of school of senior year went great! I’m pretty pumped for my classes! How is yall’s year going?

My goal this upcoming year is to start an organization on my campus for students interested in forensic / criminal psychology. I am knowledgeable of my university’s requirements but I’m worried I will encounter trouble finding possible members. Do you have any suggestions?

That’s great!! To be honest, your organization already sounds interesting because of the field, so you have that going for you! If you already have a framework about what you want it to focus on, the meetings, and planned events or socials, then I don’t really see you bumping into any problems. My only recommendation, as someone who is a little picky about joining clubs, would be to make your org stand out in any way possible. For example, hosting unique networking events or having an interesting community involvement partnership or making it an honors society can make your org appealing and will be an incentive to get people to continue to be involved.

If you are really worried about members, though, I would say advertise heavily to freshman since they are usually super pumped about joining clubs and orgs. You can do this in several ways like by flyering at hotspots, making announcements before classes (make sure to ask the professor first!), talking at floor meetings in the dorms, and using social media. All of these should be able to give your org good momentum!

This blog recently reached a milestone of 1.1k followers and I just felt so grateful that I wanted to give back to the studyblr community with a giveaway! I just finished my summer classes and will be entering my senior year of college next Monday, so this month is really bittersweet since it will be the last time I will be going back to school. Hello September!

This month will bring a lot of changes for me. I will transition from summer classes to the beginning of my senior year in college! I will continue to work at my daycare but will now have mentor responsibilities! I will start a job teaching elementary children Spanish (I am scared but excited to work with the second graders!!) Oh how I hope September will be good to me!

August Reflection:

This month has been hard and fun! Which tends to happen when I take summer classes. I’ve pulled several long nights working on group projects and preparing for midterms and quizzes but I’ve also had several adventures with friends and family! Also, I think I am close to perfecting my star method studying which I am super happy about!

Highlights!

I planted seeds and watched them grow. Went thrift shopping for the first time with a new friend. Made so much homemade coffee. Studied in the sun. Went to a bar for the first time and had my first gin and tonic (love ‘em!) Made a painting and pressed flowers.
