Emily:

Fruit, Sprinkles or Syrup, huh? Well, I'll start us off. Fruit is the obvious choice. It's adding something healthy to a dish that is... not. Adding fruit to your ice cream adds a whole new flavor and texture depending on the fruit you pick. Berries are a personal favorite of mine, but I am a fan of banana splits too.

Coral:

Please. Ice Cream is supposed to be unhealthy. That's why people like it. You wanna top it with fruit, go get frozen yogurt. Best thing to top your sugar with is MORE SUGAR! Sprinkles all the way! Put a little bit of whipped cream on top and throw 'em on, and you've got a classic sundae. Plus, if you get the colorful ones, your ice cream will be aesthetically pleasing too!

Emily:

Until it melts because you were too busy looking at the pretty rainbow colors. Sprinkles don't add anything to ice cream. You'd have to put like a fistfull of them on just to taste any additional sweetness. Keep in mind, fruit has sugar too. That's why people with good taste put it on their dessert in the first place.

Coral:

Yeah, that's why strawberry ice cream already exists. Don't overdo it with the berries there, sister. Sometimes simple sprinkles are the way to go.

Elliot:

(May I add?)

Emily:

Yes, let's let Elliot explain why he likes his syrup so much.

Elliot:

(Chocolate, Caramel, Butterscotch, Strawberry... So many flavors exist now. Bound to be one for every flavor of ice cream. Best of both worlds: sugary, but powerful flavor.)

Emily:

Yeah, except it makes everything gooey and gross.

Elliot:

(Skill issue.)

Emily:

DID YOU JUST—

Coral:

No, I see where he's coming from. For some people, gooey is better than chunky. Plus with so many flavors, you can do so much with it. You can even mix flavors and it'll still probably be good. I saw him eating Cookie Dough the other day with chocolate AND butterscotch.

Elliot:

(Delicious. You should try it)

Emily:

I'll pass. Gooey texture makes me feel like I'm eating ink. At least fruit is solid.

Coral:

Well, I happen to like my fruit pre-mixed with the ice cream. It's too sour otherwise! Sprinkles are the only way to top your ice cream.

Elliot:

(Come on, Syrup gang! Back me up!)

A Splatfest on Tumblr!

Okay so it's not actually that much of a Splatfest so much as it is for me to write silly banter between idols, draw stuff, and then let y'all vote on pointless questions. But I'm having fun with it, so now it's a thing here.

The Shell-Stoppers

An up-and-coming trio of octoling siblings who rose up from underground to the streets of Inkopolis Square, and later Splatsville. The band consists of main vocalist Emily ("Hachi"), sound mixer Coral ("DJ Bub-L-Gum"), and instrumentalist Elliot ("MintyFresh"), who— rumor has it— are somehow connected to another pop duo: Off the Hook. While the Shell-Stoppers themselves have never achieved true "idol" status, they have somewhat of a following and host a series of "online Splatfests", or Mockfests, in their spare time; nothing huge (they don't want to take the attention away from Deep Cut and the real splatfests, but playful little polls on generally unimportant topics— complete with funny discussions, as they each defend their choice before opening up the vote.

How this works:

Each poll will be open for 7 days

You may reblog and comment if you have something to add to the discussion, but please keep it civil and relevant to the topic at hand

Team propaganda is allowed if so desired (if that's your thing)

Winning team gets one piece of artwork relating to the theme

Simple, right? You're welcome to organize a group of friends and do some actual splatting for it, too, by all means. I just am not going to organize anything myself.

Also taking suggestions for future Mockfest themes!!!

Mockfest III

That was by far one of the best gigs I've been to (defiantly top 5) some of the tribute acts were amazing, almost as good as the original artists, Enraged(Rage Against the Machine tribute) were immense, massive mosh pit! I also, somehow, managed to spend almost the entire night with a stupidly gorgeous girl and her lovely friend :) said a hello to miss Rach, she was lovely, she was almost in tears bless her. And her and sweeny dancing to Surfing Bird dressed as yoda and Leia was so funny :') very very very very good night :)

Mockfest II - Men Matter Guitar Hero Stand

Manchester Rocks were proud to be involved in the running of the Mockfest Guitar Hero competition. Entrants had to play Fuel by Metallica and achieve the highest score possible to be in with a chance of winning a brand new guitar courtesy of Purple Turtle Music in Stockport. Early on it was clear that this would be a closely run contest between seasoned Guitar Hero players as the very early score started at a massive 308'000. The score steadily increased throughout the day with two players battling each other for the highest score, eventually one winner would reach an unbeatable score of 358'599 and claim the guitar. The winner was James Schofield who collected his prize in front of the massive 4000 capacity crowd. The. Competition was held to raise money for men matter and thanks to every player we helped raise over £1400 for men matter (menmatterappeal.com). A special thanks go to pmt (www.pmt247.com)for the guitar and Robinsons of Rochdale(www.robinsonsofrochdale.co.uk) for supplying the display motorbike and Sts touring(www.ststouring.co.uk)for the pa supply.

Mockfest II: Donisphere Second Stage Review

The much awaited Mockfest II arrived, with promising weather and once the gates were opened it began to fill up nicely. The marquee was home to all of the tribute bands but of much more interest to me was Stage 2 where the young , original rock bands of the future were preparing to blow the crowd away. Myself and Angie Smith settled down in the beach area in anticipation of a Rock and Metal extravaganza. 

                                                                          We were not disappointed.  12.30pm arrived and HARDTAIL took to the stage. What an opening set that was, Hardtail playing their no nonsense uncluttered hard rock. Their technical ability and lyrical creativity was obvious to everyone present who thoroughy enjoyed the spectacle in the bright sunshine, albeit a bit fresh at the time.

                                                                                      Next on were good friends of ours, INCINDIA and their youth and energy really got the crowd going to such an extent that we even had people coming out of the marquee and asking us who these guys were . INCINDIA  certainly made a great impression on a lot of people here today and they couldn’t get rid of their CD’s fast enough. Two cracking bands so far and the excitement was building rapidly.

                                                                                          SINNERGOD was a band we knew little about but unsurprisingly their gothic slant and stage presence brought roars of approval from the gathered masses who now occupied the beach area in front of the stage. This was definitely the place to be to appreciate the unquestionable talent coming to forefront of the unsigned rock scene.

                                                                                         Next up was GONE TILL WINTER, another awesome band whose unsigned status is beyond comprehension. Their set was both powerful and hypnotic, generating masses of headbanging individuals enjoying the brilliant event that was taking place.

At 5.30 pm, DIRTY HABIT arrived to much adulation and all spaces at the safety barrier were now occupied. The fact that the temperature had dropped considerably did not deter the crowd from getting involved in the singing, headbanging and general fun everyone was having. One of the highlights of DIRTY HABIT’s set was the arrival on stage of (bass / vocalist) JOLAINE’s other half, DEWSBURY to much acclaim from everyone there.  He played brilliantly and looked like he was enjoying every second of the limelight. DIRTY HABIT left the stage to  huge shouts of appreciation and applause and all too quickly the events on the second stage were drawing to a close.

HELL TO PAY were the final band to appear on Stage 2 and had the distinction of also appearing in the marquee (as SQUEAL PANTHER) . They played a blistering set to finish off  a brilliant day of original rock music, enjoyed by everyone  on the beach.

The whole Stage 2 event was concluded by a guest DJ appearance from Jeanette Burnett whose choice of songs was both eclectic and rocking.

I would like to thank all the guys from HARDTAIL, INCINDIA & THE DETOURS who went out of their way to make KAITLYN  MACKENZIE-PILOT’s birthday very special by having their photos taken with her and giving her a load of merchandise as well. Thanks guys, she was made up.

This years MOCKFEST was awesome, no arguments and MOOSE & CO. will have to go some to better it next year.

Back in the UK...... for some time now

I have been back since the 21st of April but due to being busy/lazy this is the first time I'm writing a blog. Since I have been back I spent 4 days in London.

1st day I spent most of it sleeping after the stupid long coach journey from Switzerland.

2nd day there was some sort of mass jog, I spent the day avoiding the crowd mob of jogger enthusiasts.

3rd day my Mam came to London and we went to see we will rock you, It was awesome.

Last day in London me and my Mam went to the Tower of London, my Mam wanted to see the crown jewels I was more excited about Henry VIII armour.

Since being back up north I have just been floating around Warrington with the exception of going to a festival called Mockfest in Manchester last Saturday. Head liner was Rhapsody A Queen tribute that I suggest if you ever get a chance to so and see them you shuld.
