TREKTOBER 2025 PROMPT LIST!!!

Okay, for those of you who haven't done Trektober before (in our SEVENTH YEAR, which even we can't believe), the rules are simple:

Each day of October has three prompts. One is a general plot prompt, one is a Star Trek-themed prompt, one is an NSFW prompt. You can pick any number of those prompts on each day, and create something for them. You can do as many days or as few as you like, whatever motivates you best!

If you'd like to keep to the rules and go for 100% completion, we allow three wildcards a month to just create whatever the heck you want on those days.

And if any of this doesn't work for you, it's totally fine to do something else! The important thing is, you're here, you're creating, and you're supporting your fellow creators.

The only non-negotiable rule is please tag appropriately! We do not place any restrictions on forms or nature of works produced, so we trust you all to know what's best, and to be kind to people while you do it.

Yeah I can't stop I am so sorry but I love your work x3, so can I get Aisha and Ara vp x yr?: Aisha and Ara are sitting on the balcony and they are asking each other about the reasons why they are choosing their dark powers.

“It’s not dark powers!” Ara protests when Aisha asks.  “It’s just… uh…”

“Using your opponents’ energies to defeat them?”

“Shut up,” Ara grumbles, blushing at Aisha’s smirk and Eun’s laughter.  “At least I’m not making demon contracts.”

“Angkor didn’t know I’d be using his power to put down a demon invasion.”  Aisha’s smirk turns to a smile, and she swings her legs, looking down at the ground from her perch on the balcony railing.  “So.  Joke’s on him, really.”

“At least I don’t get yelled at by my power source every time I fight.”  Ara laughs.  Eun growls.

Is that all I am to you?

I’m kidding, Ara says silently, and ignores Eun’s annoyance.  Aisha is smiling at her.

“Whatever works,” she says lightly, a far cry from the stuffy magician Elsword says she used to be.  “If our powers help us win, who cares about our alignment?”

Before we begin...

Before we get into Trektober this year I'd just like to show you all something.

This is a comment that Demerite, who you may know as Mod Demi, left on one of my fics in 2018. This is the first time we ever interacted.

We graduated from there to exchanging messages on tumblr, and on Discord. When tumblr introduced their horrifying chat groups in 2019, we branched out and started the USS McKirk Discord server.

It was such a huge social and emotional lifeline for me in a world where people who share my interests are not always geographically close to me. I still read messages on that server every day and smile. I just moved home, and went through the pile of cards and gifts I've received in our exchanges, and it nearly brought me to tears with gratitude. I have met, in person, eight of those people. I consider some of them my closest friends.

Through it all, Demi has been my guiding light for what is real and true. They are kind, creative and so in sync with me that I still marvel, sometimes. They remain one of the most wonderful, incredible people I have ever encountered.

So if you ever think to yourself that comments on creative works cannot possibly matter, please remember

My life was irreparably changed by one.

None of us want to be alone out there.

Events like this one (and in fact very specifically this one) would not exist without them.

Hey! Is it allowed to post fanfics in a different language to the Trektober AO3 collection?

Yes please do! All we request on posting to the collection is that works are tagged as comprehensively as possible, any languages are fine!

Hi! My friends and I want to do this event, but we're a little but uncomfortable that nothing on your about says anything about being a safe space and being against proshippers. Can you make a statement about not allowing any gross content in the challenge so that it's safe for us to join in? Thank youuuuuu~!

I think you might have come to the wrong place. 

Because, if you think either of the mods are going to denounce proshippers on this blog, you are beyond mistaken. Trektober, its creators, and its moderators stand behind fans’ right to create whatever content they want. We acknowledge that what people choose to create and/or consume in fiction does not reflect what they enjoy or condone in real life. We recognise that creating or consuming works seen by some as “taboo” is a legitimate coping strategy used by many people suffering from a range of traumas, and can be a valuable tool in healing.

So no, we’re not going to tell people what types of content to create. We will, as we do every year, recommend that people tag their works appropriately so that others can choose what types of content they personally want to experience.

This challenge is a safe space, but not for people like you.

What is a proshipper? I've been out of fandom too long to understand your last post.

Okay, here we go.

Pro-shipper and Anti-shipper are both terms that have evolved significantly over time, and they mean different things to different people. As such it's probably best for you to do your own research using a variety of trusted sources.

Being a proshipper means allowing people to create and enjoy whatever fictional works they want without judgment, policing or censorship, regardless of the perceived moral value of that creation. This is because fiction does not equal reality, and consuming content deemed problematic does not equal approval of morally wrong acts occurring in real life.

As always, we ask that creators tag works appropriately so those responsibly avoiding specific content may do so.

Thank you for your beautiful response to the question about “anti-pro shipping”! You really hit on what I think are the important points in a really eloquent way. Also, thank you for running the event!! I can’t wait to see everyone’s work!
