Hello, and welcome to our project page!
For those of you that are new, Corruption is a fantasy RPG made by a very small team of high school students. It follows a naive young girl named Adelaide, who is presented with proof that she has been deceived her whole life, and looks to seek the truth. More information about the plot, as well as other aspects of the game, can be found under the navigation tab on the sidebar. We are currently looking open to several types of applications at the moment. Voice actors have the highest priority, followed by artists and writers. Voice actors are asked to submit a short recording of them reading the lines we provide. You can send the auditions in at www.corruption-game.tumblr.com/submit. I recommend http://vocaroo.com/ for the recording itself, and I also encourage you to look at the backstory of your character, also on the sidebar, under Navigation. We are currently looking for two main characters, and will be asking for villains at a later date. If we like your audition, but don’t select you, we may select you for a villain or another character.
Voice Actors:
We are looking for the protagonist and one of the people that accompanies her. Adelaide is a naive girl, around 16-17, who discovers that she was sheltered from the truth for most of her life. She should be portrayed as someone who is of noble birth, so enunciation and the proper inflection are key points that we’re looking for. In the below script, she’s in a city she had been to before, but when she visited as a little girl, she was kept away from the slums. She is realizing at this point that the world is broken, and that her family is doing nothing to help. The monologue is listed below.
“Adelaide: I don’t understand why we’re even here. I came here often when I was a little girl, but I never knew that they sold human organs here! I would honestly prefer to fight the vampires and spiders because at least they have the decency to present themselves as monsters, instead of pretending to be something that they’re not. These people are even worse than the things we fight on a daily basis because they chose to be this way. We kill things just because they are in our way instead of destroying the real evil. I had no idea the world even worked like this.”
Winston is a humorous thief who uses his humor to cover up his insecurities and his past. He is certifiably insane, but tries to pass his rambling off as a joke. He was ignored as a kid until age 7, when his father left him and he had to steal to survive. He should be portrayed as light and funny, but when he starts talking about his past he suddenly becomes dark and serious. He is around 18-19, and is a huge flirt. The monologue is listed below.
“Ok, so maybe I talk to myself, and maybe I say things that make no sense, but that doesn’t mean that I’m crazy! Actually, I think that is the literal definition of crazy. It’s not my fault though, I didn’t get hugged enough as a child. Maybe if I had gotten attention, I would have been a horrible thief, and I wouldn’t be in this mess. I wouldn’t put it past any of the people that I robbed to just knife a street urchin. No one cares about a starving kid unless they know what it’s like for them. The voices ask me “All of this for a loaf of bread?” Yeah, pretty much. I never get the girl because my mouth is too busy talking to do other things, if you catch my drift. I get lost in thought without someone there to pull me out, but the closest thing I got to a friend was Rai, and she left without a word. That buddy comedy went south real fast. Damn stories setting unrealistic expectations for our youth. Life isn’t all fairy tales unless you make up your own life in your head.”
Writers:
Writers are asked to submit a short piece of their work, no longer than two pages. This does not have to be specifically written for our project, but we certainly would not object to that. The piece may be an excerpt from another story you have written. When you submit the application, please specify that this is a writing application, and include your name and the best way for us to contact you.
Artists:
Artists are asked to submit one to three pieces of your artwork. They do not have to be made for the game, but we certainly would not object to that. If you have a website or art blog, that is an acceptable application. When you submit the application, please specify that this is a writing application, and include your name and the best way for us to contact you.
We will stop accepting applications on September 19. We will reopen for villains and other characters at a later date.
