Adrian Clairmont x Gender Neutral!Reader: Short Oneshot
[Takes place shortly before the start of Season 5!]
The rain pattered softly against the windows of your shared home. It felt appropriate; rain marks change, the start of new growth in a season. You hoped this was a sign of good fortune, and that your and Adrian’s paths were headed toward the right direction. Your flight was leaving in the evening, and after this, neither of you truly knew what would happen. Adrian trusted in God to guide him, and you trusted in Adrian. He would know how to keep himself safe, and how best to complete his mission. He was determined in his ability to save these creatures, and that determination was why you loved him.
You set the extra mug in your hand down on the table he was sat at, pulling his attention away from his laptop where he had been diligently working. He turned to look up with you, appreciation evident in his eyes.
“Thank you,” He murmured, taking a sip of his coffee as you sat down beside him. “How are you feeling?”
“Nervous, of course,” You replied, “but not afraid.”
“Are you positive you want to go with me? It’s not too late to change your mind,” Adrian said, a hint of nerves creeping into his own voice as well.
“I’ve been by your side this far, I’m not leaving you now,” Your answer was simple and resolute. You rest your hand on his shoulder, to which he pressed his own hand on top of. He gave it a reassuring squeeze, before he brought it to his lips and kissed your knuckles.
“I thank God everyday for blessing me with you,” Adrian smiled, causing butterflies to well up inside you. “We’re going to do so much good in His name, just wait. We’re going to protect people. We’re going to save people.”
His determination was intoxicating, and it gave you hope for the future. Despite your concern for his safety, you believed in him. His will was unwavering, and you were content to follow his word; a sheep following their loving shepherd. He’s never steered you wrong yet.

Hey Jonathan! We are, in fact, still alive--it’s just been a chaotic start to the new year and we had to take an unexpected break from editing and recording so that we could get things in order. Among other things, one of my partners had a COVID scare and wound up in a quarantine hotel (he’s fine!), and Mom and I have both been doing a whole new round of doctors (we’re working on it). But, fret not, I have the next episode (the next few sections of Part 4 of Seeker’s Mask) recorded and ready to edit, so hopefully it should come together pretty quickly!
We are mutually DESPERATE for things to go back to normal so that we can go back to our regularly scheduled Kencyrath yelling, so stay tuned!
Incidentally, thank you all SO much for your patience, 2020 really got its last kicks in and dealing with the 2021 cleanup has been very draining. We’re hoping to get the PBIPL back on the rails soon and everyone has been an absolute champ about the break!
