for @anokrn, thank you so SO much for your patience omg, and even giving a second character option--but rest assured, we do write akaashi ♥
Request: I would like to ask for a scenario with Akaashi visiting his girlfriend in America on her last day of school.
“Keiji, did you find the place okay?” “Yes, Mom. I’m about to go in for their ceremony, I’ll call you back, okay?” “Ahh, how nice~ Have fun, say hello to your darling for me!” “Mo--” Dial tone. Akaashi felt as if part of a fuse blew with the amount of heat that rushed onto his entire face, but he allowed himself to keep his sheepish, grin as he approached the general audience’s seating, digging for his admission ticket.
Akaashi had heard about this endless, dreadful Pomp and Circumstance that played at American school graduation ceremonies, but boy, he hadn’t been prepared for how bad it really was. The only thing that kept him from being irritable was the anticipation to see you, up on that stage yourself. And he was more than rewarded--his heart swelled when he saw you among the line filing up onto the stage, your gait nervous, yet confident, with purpose at the same time, somehow. He felt like his grin was becoming creepily big as you accepted your diploma, your cheeks pink and shining softly in the bright afternoon sunlight. And he was even able to catch your attention for a brief wave before you were...politely urged off stage.
Akaashi found himself standing below a lamppost just outside of the ceremony area, feeling both awkward and, still, excited.
And he was not disappointed.
“--ji! Keiji, Keiji!!” “___?” He felt his smile creeping back on his face as he began to turn around.
You tackled him at full speed, and he stumbled a bit to avoid hitting the pavement below.
“Ahaha, careful there, love.” You blushed at that, your head leaning against his chest as you loosened your embrace just enough for him to be able to return it. “It’s definitely you!” Akaashi laughed at that.
“And just what do you mean by that?” “Well I mean, I haven’t seen you in so long, sometimes I still think you’re just a perfect dream I thought up!” You stop listening to his heartbeat and give him a fiery stare, and he felt as if your eyes were boring into his soul.
He doesn’t think, and when he does, his hands are at both of your cheeks, your warm lips against his--and he thanks his conscience graciously. He’s about to let himself melt into when he feels water on your cheeks.
“_-____? Are you okay? I’m sorry, I shouldve asked, I--” You quickly hold up your palm for him to stop, scrubbing at your eyes with your other hand. “You’re fine, Keiji, I’m just so. Unreasonably happy, I... I really missed you so much...!” You’re this close to flat-out wailing, and Akaashi can barely decide whether his smile is appropriate, settling instead for simply hugging you tighter.
When he’d ensured you were calmer, he took your hand, lacing your fingers with his, and led you to his rental car.
“Eh, Keiji, you know how to drive a Western car?!” He laughed again, and pecked your cheek. “Mom’s friend worked in America for a few years, so I had him teach me. Not too hard to pick up, not too different from ours back home~”
He held the door open for you, and the exaggerated gesture inviting you to sit had you laughing, too.
“Where to?” He grinned again, at that, his eyes bright. “A place both you and I have wanted to visit...”
“Wizarding World!!” You both shouted at the same time, and you squealed happily, and Akaashi was laughing again.
The drive there was full of the life that the two of you missed apart--singing loudly, and offkey, to cheesy pop songs, talking about trivial things, and moments of silence when he’d reach over a free hand for you to hold.
And the vibrance of simply being with each other only grew after you arrive. The amusement park was significantly smaller than any of the big-names, but there was so much to see, so much to experience. Yet the most brilliant thing to you was being able to look into Akaashi’s eyes--not from behind a webcam, a computer screen, and miles and miles of ocean, but right in front of you. The real him. And it appeared that the feeling was mutual: it felt like every time you looked back into his eyes, they only shone brighter.
A bittersweetness came with the end of the day. Both of your arms were strung with bags of treats and presents to each other--it was almost comical the way the two of you had to play Tetris to fit them safely in the car trunk. The drive back was much quieter than the way there, and it was only when you were nearly home that Akaashi speaks again.
“____, I...” he started, and took a breath before continuing. “I have one more thing to give you.”
He pulled into your neighborhood park and stopped the car to rummage through the glove compartment in front of you.
“Here.” He handed you a distinctly small, rectangular piece of paper, and he shifted a little in his seat as you let out a gasp.
“Keiji?! Isnt’ this--”
“Y-yeah, it’s a plane ticket. I was hoping you would maybe want to...come back with me after we spend some time here. Even just for a little while!” He offered you a wary smile. “Is...is that okay?”
Akaashi barely had time to finish his sentence when you’d already basically thrown yourself across the car to hug him, to kiss his face, over and over.
“It’s more than okay! It’s-it’s--!” You struggled to find the words, and he let out a sigh of relief, mixed into a laugh. “This is probably the best day I’ve had in a long time.”
“Then hopefully I can make the next ones just as good.” He grinned, before kissing you again.
