Everyone, please welcome Mod Hella.
She has made a confession before, however was not credited for it at the time.
Expect her to be posting more often now.
in regard to the submission about a character using petal/petalself pronouns- ur full of shit. your gender can't be a fucking flower. as a non-binary dfab who uses they/them pronouns, i can't get taken seriously because of fucking social justice tumblrinas thinking they're special for identifying with a flower. calm the fuck down and get over yourself.
okay but they never said that the character's gender was a flower? pronouns are a personal thing and if someone likes petal/petalself then that's absolutely up to them.
identifying with a flower would fall under the label of otherkin, that's not about gender. i'm not going to comment about kintypes, because i really don't know enough, but as far as i'm aware kin=/=gender. and pronouns have nothing to do with kin. fae/faer is used by people who aren't faery-kin.
and as a non-binary dfab person myself who uses they/them, i'm pretty sure that nb people not being taken seriously has nothing to do with noun pronouns and everything to do with gatekeeping (i.e. the idea that one must have extreme dysphoria to be trans) and the gender binary.
people should be allowed to chose whichever pronouns they want, as long as they're not appropriating slurs or anything, and people should respect others' pronouns.
though i would add that it'd be rly great if everyone could have a 'standard' set of pronouns (they/them or xe/xyr etc) for anyone who struggles with variant pronouns due to English not being their first language, or due to mental illness/developmental disorders/etc that mean it's harder for them to remember and be able to use alternative pronouns.
(also please tell me if i said anything offensive here! i promise it's due to lack of knowledge rather than bigotry if i did and i'm eager to correct any offences)
Willow of BTVS, Xena, and Gabrielle are all bisexual and people really need to stop talking about them like they're lesbians
i don't know the latter two, so i can't comment there. but as much as i do personally strongly believe Willow is bisexual, she does identify herself as a lesbian. lesbians do often have relationships with guys before they've found their sexuality, thanks to heteronormativity.
so it's really okay for people to refer to Willow as a lesbian, though i'd definitely say there's evidence to say she's bisexual and/or biromantic.
w/r/t Xena and Gabrielle, it looks like neither have been stated to be lesbians, and both have had romantic relationships on the show (if i understand this wiki correctly)
so for those two i'd say that people can headcanon as they wish, i think. but it would be great to have more bisexual representation so i'd love if they were all bisexual!
Christian grey is demiboy and Ana Steele is a demigirl. There I made 50 shades of grey a little better.
i see where you're coming from, anon, but it wouldn't be any better really. he'd still be an abuser and it would still be promoting abuse. however, Ana as a demigirl would be pretty cool, and her leaving him for her roommate who i've forgotten the name of would be a way better book.
i think generally it's better not to headcanon antagonists as lgbtqia+, but then there's the debate of who's an antagonist, so it's not a rule really. just a gut feeling that the idea of making 50sog better just because they're nb suggests that it's better if they're lgbtqia+? idk i think it enters into this zone where we allow worse behaviour in lgbtqia+ couples in media simply because they're representation, which is definitely A Thing that i see with glee and orange is the new black, for example.
but don't feel bad, obviously you didn't mean any of that you just meant it'd be better if they were lgbtqia+ which is the point of this blog!! and yeah i definitely agree that's mostly true but in some cases it has other meanings.
gentle reminder that polyamorous =/= queer and that this is not a place to send hetero headcanons!!
