How to Prepare Fried Chicken (also, How to Write Newsletters)
How to Prepare Fried Chicken (you'll need a title, of course)
In this week's newsletter we are going to learn how to cook the basic fried chicken! This easy recipe will help you cook a scrumptious meal in no time. Let's look at the recipe below. (this should be in paper 1, directed writing, so you'd probably have some sort of table/picture to help you. USE THAT TO YOUR ADVANTAGE!)
First and foremost, you must prepare the ingredients. One whole fresh (you can also use plump, juicy, or organic in the place of fresh) chicken, two (I'd suggest you put maximum three if you're actually going to fucking cook a chicken, cause damn, you don't need that many eggs), flour and of course, oil to cook the fried chicken in. Wash the chicken thoroughly, then proceed to cut the whole chicken into smaller pieces with a cleaver. (a paragraph normally consists of three to four sentences. keep on elaborating with the right stuff, and you're well on your way to at least 6 marks)
Next, take the eggs, crack them into a bowl, and beat lightly. Then, dip the chicken into the eggs. This is to ensure that when you dip the chicken into flour, the flour will stick to the chicken. The chicken will then have a succulent golden-brown colour after frying. (ps, you have to use the Queen's English when writing your papers, Malaysians. and when I say Queen's English, I mean English English. as in British English? this is all so very confusing, but it just means that you have to write in a few extra Us. talk like the Americans in your spare time!)
After dipping the chicken in egg, cover it in flour. You can use either wheat flour or ready made (ready-made is acceptable as well) flour. You can get the flour at your nearest grocery store or supermarket (the "special price at this-and-that store" joke has already been told). Use dry hands to coat the chicken to ensure that the floor won't stick to your hands. Shake the chicken to remove excess flour. (please remember to read your questions. in my case, they didn't say anything about word limits, ergo I don't have to count shit, but y'know, just in case, please read the question at least ONCE and understand it.)
Then preheat the oil until it starts bubbling lightly. Deep fry the chicken under a small flame, until it is a nice golden-brown colour. You have to use a small flame, as under a large flame, there is a risk that your chicken will not cook properly. (hrm, for newsletters, it's suggested that you write at least five paragraphs, one for introduction & conclusion each, and then another three for content.)
Finally, the chicken is ready to be served (and eaten. yum.) You can eat it with soy sauce, ketchup, mayonnaise, chilli sauce or barbeque sauce. You can eat it with just like that, if you want to. (tuck the start of your paragraphs in, baby. don't be as lazy as me, your A is riding on this, while I'm just typing into an empty space hole.)
Fried chicken just tends to make you feel better. Hopefully, you will try this recipe at home. (the conclusion doesn't have to be that long, as long as it's there)
Prepared by Chloe Kidd. (write this on the left side of your page, with your name. no, that's not my name, I'm just mourning the death of my lvl 41 baby in Skyrim. dead hard drives kill, kids.)
Heating & Cooling Naphthalene (C10H8)
So! I had my first activity/experiment of the year today: Chemistry (my favorite of the pure science subjects!) unfortunately, I had to spend it (and, maybe even every other experiment) with Salman. I'm sure you have a Salman in your class: he's the smartest kid who knows all the answers, corrects most of the teachers...? the guy with the smug smile and the nice teeth? yeah, that douchebag!
ok, I didn't start this to complain about how I despise/envy the guy. I should get started. I'm sure your Science teacher has helped you with several experiments and the reports that come after for the first three years? yeah, starting form four, you aren't going to get any of that help; you'd required to write up your own. of course, they give you a baseline, questions of things that you need, such as: Aim, Apparatus, Materials, Procedure, Discussion, the Data & Observation and depending on the experiment, Interpreting Data (which I had for this one). Also! you know the practical book, the one that you didn't ever bother to bring because you never had to use them in Science classes? you need that now. yay for extra weight!
so, assuming you're using the same textbook as I am (Malaysian government issued 2005), you'd be checking out page 9 to 11 of your Chemistry Practical Book. Aim, Apparatus, Materials, the questions for Discussion, Data & Observation and Interpreting Data will be there for all your copy\paste needs. of course, Procedure can't be copy/pasted (I know, sad right?). you'll have to turn the sentences from active to passive; i.e. "Fill one-third of a boiling tube with naphthalene" to "A boiling tube is filled to a third with naphthalene". if you still aren't sure what passive means, I'm not quite sure either, just add in "by a zombie" at the back, and see if it fits; "a boiling tube is filled to a third with naphthalene by a zombie" and so on. and of course, you will have to copy down the diagrams and label them accordingly. I apologize beforehand for the shitty phone pictures, but Google failed me.
Data & Observation; in this experiment, you will have to sacrifice a whole new page for the table given in your textbook. I ended up listing mine to 15.5 and it still wasn't enough for the cooling part of the experiment. I spent up to 23 minutes waiting for it to cool because none of us remembered we were supposed to stir. *facepalm* by the time one of us had (me, of course) we had already put the naphthalene away and we were in class, Interpreting Data. for that, you will need two pieces of graph paper (bring more, it's always good to be prepared, and of course some of your classmates will end up buying out your stock), one for heating and the other for cooling. I'm hoping y'all (whoever "y'all" are) will know how to graph, because I as hell am not going to show you.
Discussion! haha, I love this part because Salman ended up coming to me (!!!) for answers! imagine that!! I was so fuckin proud that he overcome his fear of talking to girls. right.
1. Why is solid naphthalene, C10H8 not heated directly with a Bunsen flame?
if you don't put in a water bath, you will die. first off: naphthalene is INCREDIBLY FLAMMABLE, like HOPY SHIT you do NOT want that on an open flame!! second, the gas it leaks? the one that smells like bleach, ammonia, and disinfectant? yeah that shit's toxic. it kills red blood cells, when you inhale it. it is a carcinogen - you can get cancer from that shit!! ok, so you might want to just say that's flammable because I think I got carried away again?
2. Why is a water bath used to heat the naphthalene, C10H8?
It's used to ensure an even heating process is carried out.
3. During the cooling of naphthalene, C10H8, explain why:
(a) the boiling tube must be placed in a conical flask
This is to ensure an even cooling process is carried out.
(b) the naphthalene, C10H8 must be stirred continuously
Stirring the naphthalene continuously ensures even cooling as well.
4. What happens to the temperature of naphthalene, C10H8 during:
(a) melting?
No change.
(b) freezing?
The temperature drops.
5. The melting point of sugar is 184 degrees Celsius. The melting point of sugar cannot be determined using the apparatus shown in the heating of naphthalene setup. Why? What apparatus can be used instead?
The melting point of sugar is 184 degrees Celsius, which is above the maximum temperature that can be attained with a water bath. The water bath should be replaced with an oil bath or a sand bath.
ok, so I just realized I misspelled naphthalene wrong all through out my report, I am going to go change it. JK OUT!
EDIT: I found a video that might help y'all out! The first link's Heating, then Cooling, then both.

Esei Moral Folio - SPM
Bidang 1: Gejala Sosial Dalam Kalangan Remaja
