Why do you think this blmatsu phenomenon exists? It's so weird to me, and it's on such a large scale and so openly. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it even got on jp news with parody art, which was complaining about fujoshis (rather than incest part). (Japan seems to be against it more for the BL part... but this ask is directed at western blmatsu shippers) I want an actual answer. (Not a pro-blmatsu ask, I'm sorry for the way it was phrased.) 1/2

Trying to be unbiased here, Japan in general seems to view fiction as something that doesn't impact reality, and almost everyone seems to have the same mindset, and then if you add yaoi fans + popular comedy show to the equation, it becomes like that, widespread and out in the open. My theory is that western fans see this and think "oh it's okay?" and that's how it became like that. Also "onceler syndrome" 2/2

i mean, tbqh you’re not that far off on the last part. japan widely is the reason why many western problems are here. (IE: pedophiles and lolicon) i’m no expert on the social construct of japan’s otaku and fujoshi culture but for the most part the fact that many otaku and fujoshi content is accessible to the western countries leads to many people thinking ‘oh, this is okay’ usually young folk who don’t know any better as well as enabling pedophiles and attackers to justify their actions.

japan is by no means a perfect country despite every weeaboo crying about it, it’s the root cause of many social issues IE: lolicon and fujoshi culture and there’s not much else to say other than yeah, japan is kind of the reason it’s so widespread. doesn’t mean it’s right, doesn’t mean it’s okay. only that it’s widespread. we as a nation have to understand even if it’s ‘okay’ by another country’s standards does not make it okay fundamentally.

japan has problems with misogyny, the fetishization/hatred of lgbt and as well as contributing to pedophilic and incestual problems. we should not be relying on japan’s version of ‘what’s okay’ to justify our means of absorption.

what i’m trying to say is: japan’s otaku culture is fucked up and not an excuse for anyone to use as to why they’re also absorbing that content.
