Hey there, welcome to what I'm calling the 🌈 Rainbow Edition 🌈 of UGA! Unfortunately Tumblr's preview of the mod name on top of the new title screen makes it a little... cluttered. Anyway, here are the changes you can expect:

Plans for next update

First of all, thank you to everyone who's downloaded the mod! I'm extremely happy to be able to provide a continuation for one of the most beloved mods in Fire Emblem for all of you who have been waiting years for an update.

As you may know, the hug Lucina has in chapter 13 with her mother is only in the female animation set. I've set my sight on adding this hug to the male animation set for the next update, so I'll be trying my hand at getting rid of the placeholder dialogue in favor of proper written chapter 13 scenes while I'm at it. If you'd like to help write the scenes for each of Chrom's new spouses, I encourage you to do so! You don't have to be the person who wrote the original supports, and you writing it means the update will come that much faster.

Following the decision to work on chapter 13, I'd like to make this next update focus pretty heavily on family supports. Taking one look at the spreadsheet shows that there are VERY few PC/Sibling supports coded. Back in the original hack's heyday, it was difficult to code these, and very little incentive to write them because of this. I'd like to encourage people to write and code some more family supports! I will also be changing the submission guidelines to allow all kinds of supports- not just the ones that are UGA-exclusive. This means everything from S supports to platonic chains to the aforementioned family supports.

Several existing family supports that were written for the original GA have kids mentioning their sibling to their mom. This would make things a bit odd without any changes to the paralogue (if Noire mentions her brother in her support with Olivia, why would Olivia be shocked to have a son if you recruit Inigo second?) but I believe I've found a way to add just a bit of alternate text that will allow kids to freely mention their siblings to their mothers in their supports!

Seeing as I have big plans for this next update, I will be upfront and say not to expect it anytime soon. Uni is going to be starting back for me in just a couple weeks, and I don't know how often I'll be able to work on it when it does. As always, I encourage you to join our discord! Not only is it the best place to get live feedback on your support writing, but you'll get access to new supports sooner than everyone else and stay up to date with how the mod is progressing and how far away this update is.

Support Spreadsheet Update!

Gen 1 and Gen 2 supports are now separated into different sheets so there's less scrolling if you want to look at Gen 2 supports

PC Supports and Cross-Gen supports have been given their own sheets so it's easier to see what is and isn't available

It's not a massive change, but hopefully it's one that will make searching for things just a little easier! I figured that since we already had more than one sheet it wouldn't hurt to add a couple more.

Unofficial Gay Gender Lock Removal Patch

UGA shares its home on Discord with @ljreflet's Gender Lock Removal, so it's a little silly that it's taken so long to make the two mods compatible, but the patch is now finished!

There are two different versions of GLR, and I've made patches for both versions of them. Details are below.

Version A features:

Changes to select Gen 1 class sets: Lissa: Cleric/Pegasus/Barbarian Panne: Taguel/Wyvern/Barbarian Gaius: Thief/Myrmidon/Pegasus Cherche: Wyvern/Cleric/Fighter Henry: Dark Mage/Thief/Troubadour Donnel: Villager/Mercenary/Pegasus

All other Gen 1 characters will pass down their existing previously gender-locked classes instead of parallel versions (i.e. Vaike will pass Fighter if he is Lucina's father instead of Pegasus Knight).

Donnel's Villager class remains male-only and translates to the Knight class for any of his potential daughters.

Male manaketes have been added in addition to the existing classes from the original GLR. Each male Gen 2 unit has a unique manakete sprite and dragon form texture and will use their base class model in the class (exceptions: Brady uses war monk and Laurent uses sage for less clipping).

Version B features:

Gen 1 retains their vanilla class sets, but now pass down any previously gender-locked class instead of their parallel versions.

Panne now passes Wyvern to her sons instead of Barbarian (Yarne has been given Barbarian in his base class set so he will still get it like normal, but if he has any brothers they will not).

Male manaketes have been added, exactly the same as they are in Version A.

Opening up spotpass unit S supports?

GAR currently has spotpass characters (such as Emmeryn and Gangrel) restricted to be unable to S support any child-bearing units. This is because them having children would cause time paradoxes! I am fond of Emmeryn/Panne however, and I personally think there are ways to write these pairings and hypothetical PC supports in a way that allows us to skirt around the whole 'paradox' issue. You could pull a Morgan and say it's an alternate timeline, or that the kid from the original timeline was adopted and had a single mother (PC could be about them trying to adjust to having another parent?). I think it could lead to some interesting stories that otherwise wouldn't be possible to explore, and opening the spotpass characters up for more S supports introduces new inheritance opportunities as well! So that begs the question:

Should Spotpass units be allowed to have kids?

No. Stick with GAR's rules to avoid paradoxes.

Yes. It would be interesting to see how people navigate around it in supports.

No more S supports between siblings!... A Fire Emblem Awakening (FEA) Mod in the Code Patch category, submitted by Manakete_Smoocher

My friend Patata went ahead and made other region versions of the code patch originally made by Sierra to allow children of gay parents recognize each other as siblings. These will be included in the next major update of Unofficial Gay Awakening, but I have no timeframe for when that will come out so here it is on GameBanana for your convenience!

Spotpass Update

After a lot of thought, I've rationalized half of the spotpass characters being able to S rank the mothers in the game. Here are my conclusions:

Priam - Not story relevant, so he's safe and can't cause any paradoxes

Aversa - We have no idea what happened to Aversa in Lucina's timeline. It's easy to say she was always destined to be defeated and retreat to the Wellspring of Truth and defect to Chrom's side, and it's possible this could have happened before Chrom dies because Aversa is follower and not a leader- she does what she's told, but she isn't the person calling the orders. Validar could easily replace her after she defects, given the time.

Yen'fay - We never learn what became of the Yen'fay from Lucina's timeline, so it's very possible that Chrom was able to recruit him instead of killing him at Demon's Ingle. There's no proof that Spotpass Yen'fay is the one from Lucina's timeline (he just says it's an alternate timeline where Say'ri dies but this could mean a different timeline entirely), but in this situation he can't be, because he would have memories of marrying his spouse and having a kid. We are also shown several times throughout the story that fate always wants to make the outcomes of the original timeline happen- this force could be what causes Yen'fay to wander through the Outrealms and into the game's timeline in the first place. It's a big lengthy explanation, but it's reasonable that Yen'fay could have fathered any of the children in the original timeline!

So these three will have S supports completely open, with no convincing or further explanation required. The other three, however...

Walhart, Gangrel, and Emmeryn are all supposed to be dead. While you could argue that they survived like Aversa did, it's much harder to do so and their role in the story throws a wrench into things. Emmeryn's death is so central to the story that it quite frankly makes no sense that her Spotpass iteration exists. In the original timeline, because the way she died was via assassination and not a noble sacrifice, the first war with Plegia against Gangrel stretched on for much longer, and ended with much more bloodshed. I cannot see Gangrel surviving that after everything is said and done. Lucina also makes no mention of Walhart or Gangrel ever defecting and joining Chrom's army, so it's safe to assume this didn't happen in her timeline and there's no way for them to father any of the gen 2 kids.

While I'm not completely banning S supports between them and the mothers, I will keep them restricted until a reasonable explanation for the kid's existence within what we know of Lucina's timeline is provided.
