October Activity Check: Update

Good evening, Ark residents!

Several of you expressed confusion this week regarding the following statement about a google form in the activity check section of our rules page: 

During this week, to remain active, you must submit 2 threads from the past month to the activity check google form.

The aforementioned google form had not been live at the beginning of this month’s activity check. This has been fixed! Please visit the link below(or check under the updates sidebar on the blog’s front page) to view the form.

While we ask that you try to send your activity checks through the form this month, any submissions sent to the inbox for this current activity check will still be considered valid. Going forward, we will be performing all activity checks through google form submissions. Details for this decision discussed below the cut. If you haven’t seen the post for the current activity check, you can find it here.

This decision was made to benefit both our users and the mod team. Tumblr asks get eaten more often than any of us would like, which isn’t exactly great for record-keeping. Our google form also allows users to edit submissions after they’ve been submitted — no more worrying about having to send a second ask if you need to correct something! 

Additionally, this will reduce a lot of labor for the mods. Processing activity checks through asks means a lot of copy-pasting or typing and digging through spreadsheets — quite tedious and stressful. Google forms, on the other hand, can be imported directly to excel spreadsheets with zero need for mods to manually enter data. Sounds much better, right?

It is my hope that this system will be a lot smoother for everyone involved and make processing activity checks much quicker. Thank you all for understanding!

quick ooc q: what are the remodeling and relocation permits, and do we get one permit that can be used for either during the rank up?

You can choose to receive one or the other!

The descriptions for Remodeling and Relocation permits are as follows (taken from Commerce Protocols inventory page):

500MP ♡ Remodeling Permit – grants moderate redecoration of your living quarters (for example, wallpaper and flooring). Total redecoration or major change to room’s structure/architecture requires purchase of two redecoration permits.

500MP ♡ Rehousing Permit – grants permission to switch rooms with another resident, move in with another resident, or move to a new room in a residence of your choosing.

What's the official status on updating character apps post-acceptance? Altering what items they had with them at arrival / got taken away (as long as it's minor) or altering the wording on personality sections, for example.

This is totally fine! If you have any concerns on a case-by-case basis, you’re welcome to send us an ask whether specific items are ok to change and we will reply privately, but so long as the inventory changes are minor and don’t turn your character into a god who owns every gun on the planet, we’re not too worried about it and you shouldn’t be either!

Changes on personality sections, background, etc., are 100% fine and you don’t need to worry about checking in with us about that, so long as your character isn’t changing into a completely different one.

Good afternoon, Ark residents!

With October activity checks coming to a close, the Ark staff realizes that there are several rank-ups from last month which have yet to be processed. Because of the tardiness of these rank-ups, we will be opening this month’s rank-ups early, and we will be forgiving regarding the following rule:

“Please submit the info showing that you qualify for the rank-up prior to that date in order for your rank-up to be processed”.

So long as the date that you qualified for rank-up occurred prior to, or on, the date of submission, your rank-up will be processed!
