essentially the entirety of iron man comic canon, except during the runs where the author explicitly and implicitly hates tony and thinks he really is the 'textbook narcissist billionaire playboy philanthropist' that mcu perception popularised.

iron man vol. 1 demon in a bottle arc #120-128 - the arc that deals specifically with tony's alcoholism

iron man vol. 3 #26 - 32: tony relapses, the sentient armor is involved, the villain later in the arc is yinsen's son

iron man: fatal frontier #1-13 - some excellent tony monologue and character introspection

iron man vol. 4 - #1-6 are in the infamous extremis arc, with lots of interesting worldbuilding and transhumanism core to modern tony tech. #7-12 gets into execute program which is spicy self-loathing and dissociation era and the precursor to civil war in #13-16

the darkhold: iron man - some excellent body horror and tony character analysis

in earth-TRN1096 which features in Avengers: Twilight (2024), he has a son with janet called james stark. after tony and jan die in battle, he's raised and brainwashed to be an evil fascist by the red skull who is pretending to be jarvis' brother.

i KNOW and i will die on this hill. when i say i love emh design i'm usually 80% of the time talking specifically about tony's design because what kind of galaxy brain energy went into "give tony stark eyeliner, give him GOLDEN EYES, make him tanned and pointy but also pretty". like whoever came up with that was so genius it was a hot girl summer moment for tony

answering your question: it's a completely new universe! the only thing that ties it to the original ults is that the whole thing was orchestrated by the maker (who's from 1610), but even the dimension number is different (6160), and there's been no mention of bringing 1610 back, at least so far

the story began in ultimate invasion (5 issues mini, tony first shows up in #2 and [spoilers] steve in #4 [spoilers]), then ultimate universe (oneshot), and then ultimate spider-man (ongoing), which is the one you've reblogged - all written by hickman. so far there's been no announcement of a title with either tony or steve, or even any avengers at all (the only upcoming ones are x-men and black panther), but tony has been a pretty big player in the overarching story, so he'll probably show up here and there

it's all really good so far and i really recommend it, even if it has nothing to do with the original ults!

thank you for the helpful run down!! i genuinely forget comics release at a relative snail's pace on a month to month basis because i tune in once every 4-6 months and it feels like big things are always shifting and changing.

regardless i'm excited to see what hickman has up his sleeve because he's always been fantastic with big sweeping storylines that impact the whole marvel landscape. it's just a bonus that he also happens to really nail steve and tony's characterisations.

not to be that person but those panels aren't from judgement day and also, tony wasn't listening to steve's speech because he was alone in a cave fighting an AU version of howard at the time. That was why he was thinking about the people he loves, everything that will be lost if he didn't do what was necessary.

hey! i'm aware of this as i read the issue to get the screencaps in the first place. even though tony wasn't there physically the two moments and tony's internal dialogue are deliberately paralleled by the narrative. i just thought it was a cute moment of the writer intentionally having tony "answer" the themes of steve's speech even though he didn't hear it directly.

Look, it was MCUSteve’s fault at the end of the day that he didn’t realize he had a thing for DILF’s until post CACW, if he figured it out sooner he’d have not done half the stupid shit he had pulled up until then!

That’s why he’s so done with his 2012 counterpart, he’s looking at his younger self thinking “you stupid twink you don’t even know what an embarrassment of riches you have access to right now”

(And no it’s isn’t MCUTony’s fault he didn’t come into his true DILFness until CACW, he was serving daddy by Avengers, Steve was just slow)

also 2012-15 avengers and aou era tony was still looking at all the avengers like they were the best thing to ever happen to him or otherwise having ptsd nightmares about them dying every night. this man WAS just as obsessed with steve as his other multiverse counterparts, he just also happened to think steve had no reason to like him or want to get to know him beyond work
