Joker was in Arkham. Maybe he actually was trying to get help, be good. Maybe he had a relapse on his meds. Either way, Bat stood in front of the door to the man's cell. Yellow eyes peer through the window. Joker's dazed, unfocused. Bats heart sinks a bit, seeing him in this state. He opens the door, steps inside.

-- They’d both come back changed. Jason is breathing when he shouldn’t be. Bat is-- well, he’s a giant bat now. No more Bruce. He’s looked the terror between worlds in the eye and beaten it.

So now, this-- his son’s alive, his son is angry and hurt and scared. They fight and Jason’s leading him somewhere. He knows it. But he still takes flight, crashing through the window after his son.

He lands and stands tall. Joker is there. Oh. THAT’S what this is about, all of this. Days of fighting and anger and mourning a son he thought he’d lost all over again. He knows what Jason’s going to make him do, but he waits, lets him say his piece and get all his emotions out.

What movie are they watching? Who cares. Bat sets the bowl of popcorn aside as Jason flops onto him. He hums, chittering softly. He pulls his kid closer to his side, wings wrapping him in warmth. He’s half asleep and Bat uses the other hand to ruffle his hair. “Jaylad. You want to finish the movie tomorrow night?”
