So my day was a bag of mixed nuts yesterday. I didn't want to post until I had a full resolution.
So yesterday, being St paddy's day, I wore my kilt to work. I have done this before with no problem. This time it was a problem. I dont know why but it was.
I came into work wearing it, had to get checked in due to covid. The manager immediately stopped me and said I would need to go home and change. I laughed because I thought it was a joke. He stated he was serious and that I needed to change.
I stated it was St. Patrick's day and I have worn it before and I have seen others wear kilts. He stated no and told me to leave and change or use leave, not offering telework which I could have done. I asked what would happen if i show up the next day in a full dress, he said he would send me home again. I told him this wasn't right and I want to speak with our Regional Manager. He said I could but she was out at the moment and would be in later today. I said okay, I'll wait. He said no, I am to change or use leave. I said I would use leave and left.
I contacted our RM and HR. Reviewing the dress code policy, this wasn't against policy. It took most of the day to reach a determination but in the end, HR and RM agreed with me, I can now wear a kilt or dress as long as it is professional (no to short, no tears or rips, etc)
While waiting on the determination, I built a chicken coop, ran errands, and had breakfast with my lovely wife.
So work was infuriating but I was shown correct and I got some of my weekend projects done early. Also here is my kilt and chicken.
If you notice the chicken, Velo, is missing feathers, it's due to being in the mouth of a bobcat and mean coop mates. We got her from my bil so she wasn't being constantly attacked and her tail feathers plucked. She is super friendly. She doesn't come but is easy to pick up. Also, Velo is short for Velociraptor
