The Fair Work Commission is proposing to update the 103 modern awards, to allow for a new, unpaid Pandemic Leave. This leave would effectively be 2 weeks of unpaid leave, to be taken if they are required to self-isolate or other government requirements meant the staff member can't attend work because of a COVID-19 related issue. In reality, it would seem that most employers are managing these circumstances in a similar way anyway, however, the Fair Work Commission requirement will likely provide employers and employees with more certainty in this scenario.
