Magnum Opus Partners: What Would Santa Look Like if He Was Created in Today’s Ad World?
-
Hipster Santa
For most of us, the image of Santa Claus is based on the concept created by Coca-Cola in 1931.
Though Coke’s interpretation was nothing new in terms of that particular look of Santa (he is widely interpreted differently across countries and cultures), the iconic images created by commercial illustrator Haddon Sundblom (who himself was inspired by Clement Clark Moore’s 1822 poem “A Visit from St. Nicholas”) have stood the test of time and remain vivid in many people’s imaginings of Kris Kringle.
But, what would Santa look like if today’s ad world threw its creative strength behind creating his image?
That’s the question that creative agency Magnum Opus Partners sought to address with a fun project they did for the Christmas season.
According to their team: “So what would Santa look like if his legend was being created by some groovy bunch of creatives today? No great big rotund guy with a white beard, that’s for sure! This gave the creative team at Magnum Opus Partners a thought, so they had a go.”
