Hey, Hazel! I just wanted to know how Simon would react the first time you told him 'I love you'. Would he freak out? Or say it back?
Love your posts!
Hello, anon! That's a good idea for a post, actually.
(I don't know where you got my name from but oh well)
Simon “Ghost” Riley headcanons! (First 'I love you' edition)
1. He doesn’t see it coming.
You say it so effortlessly... like breathing, like truth. And it knocks the wind out of him.
2. He freezes.
Not because he doesn’t feel the same, but because those words mean so much to him. Maybe too much.
Love... You loved him...
3. His first instinct is silence.
He stares. You wonder if you said the wrong thing. If you scared him off. If he’s going to walk away.
4. But then, his breathing shifts.
Not ragged—but sharp. Controlled. Like he’s reeling himself back from something fragile.
5. He doesn’t say it back right away.
Not because he doesn’t mean it, but because if he says it, it’s real. It’s vulnerable. And Ghost doesn’t do vulnerable. Never.
6. Later, he shows it instead.
A hand on your back for no reason. Coffee already waiting when you wake up. Extra ammo left by your kit. Quiet little actions that scream louder than any words.
7. But when he finally says it...
It’s quiet. Almost a whisper. Maybe right before a mission. Or when he thinks you’re asleep. But it’s there. And it’s undeniable.
8. It’s not smooth or romantic.
It’s awkward. Raw. Maybe even a little broken.
“...I love you.”
Simple. Unsteady. Real.
9. After that, he says it like he’s afraid you’ll take it back.
Like the words are something fragile he’s been allowed to borrow. Something he doesn’t think he deserves.
10. But when he sees your reaction—
The smile. The relief. The way you say it back without hesitation... it settles something deep in him.
"I love you too, my pretty boy..."
And for the first time in years, Simon Riley feels wanted. Not just useful. Not just needed. Loved.
