As a teenager, I hated texting because old people hated it and I was a generational pick-me. As an adult, I realize how fortunate I am as someone with Auditory Processing Disorder (not diagnosed until I was in my early twenties) to have grown up in a time when there was a method of communicating with people who weren't in the same room with you that didn't require using one's ears.
Because I was and remain an old person at heart, letter writing remains my favorite long-distance mode of communication, followed by emails, but yes, texting is fine.
