Ko-Fi update!!

So we decided to make tiers on Ko-Fi for those who would want to see our stuff early Link here --> Ko-fi Nearly everything will be posted here except for maybe some wips that will never be finished. Comics have thier own tier and will be to post short comics in advance or just posting the next part of a comic earlier The second tier is a bit pricier since it will be filled with finished pieces, wips and in progress comics and will also be updated depending on the rate we make art Heres a blurry image of an upcoming thing with mercaine already posted on Ko-Fi!!

Hey I just wanna know how is Caine handling the fact that he is the last of his kind? Are the dunkomer social creatures? is Caine’s species truly extinct?

Hello! Caine doesn't really think or care about that factor tbh, he was born and raised in captivity surrounded by humans and learned to crave contact from them. If anything he just cares about having someone to socialize and bond with, regardless of species. Even if he was a mer of a living species he wouldn't really care or even recognize them as his species. It would be more of a "oh they look like me" moment and just continue on his way, maybe a bit of curiousity but other than that not much else DunkleoMers were extremely social creatures so Caine heavily depends on socialization to feel at ease. Being alone is extremly stressful on DunkleoMers (and what leads to them growing in size), they can make it alone but its very much prefered and wanted to live in a pod or group. And yes DunkleoMers went extinct a bit after the devonian extinction, they managed to make it through but with so many changes and new and more agile mers coming into the picture over time they lost the fight and slowly died out. Caine is effiecient as a hunter becuase he has very mobile arms and even fingers, something he got from his OrcaMer DNA that was used as a base to build the DunkleoMer onto. True DunkleoMers had more fin like arms than modern Mers, so even in his own species Caine would be strange in appearance.

helloooooo!!! do you think caine’s jaw/outer mouth ever gets sore or locked in place from having to constantly have it open to see? since his eye placement isn’t typical, i’m guessing that his species’ jaw muscles aren’t structured for extended periods of having it open? and was there any scheduled care for it (if it did hurt him) before abel came along? ok byeeeeee!!!!!!

He actually doesnt have much of an issue holding it open!

If you look at most artistic depections of Dunkleostues you notice that they always hold thier mouth open, possibly with how thick the bones in their head were, it was likely more comfortable to hold it open and the added bonus of letting water flow through thier gills for oxygen as well We imagine DunkleoMers having a similar thing but only as they grow larger like Caine, Able being small (the normal and typical size for his species), his armored head wasnt as thick and heavy so he could comforable hold his jaws closed Caine did have issues when he was smaller but as he grew larger and larger it ended up benefiting him in the long run with the thick plating and muscles on his head forcing him to keep his jaws open.
