"Essence" . Mohatta Palace,Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. It was built near the coast of Clifton by Shivratan Chandraratan Mohatta, a Hindu Marwari businessman from modern day Rajasthan in India, in 1927, as his summer home. He designed the Palace in the tradition of stone palaces in Rajasthan, using pink Jodhpur stone in combination with the local yellow stone from Gizri. There's a story behind the construction of this palace, from a book ‘Karachi Taareekh Kay Aaeenay Main’ by Usman Damohi. In his book, Mohatta’s wife was one of the main reasons to built this Palace. She was suffering from some disease, and the doctors told Mohatta that refreshing winds from the sea can cure her. Another fact about this palace is that Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah lived in this palace and spent her last days in this palace, and found dead in one of the rooms. Many visitors also mentioned that several strange things happen here. According to the guards, this place is haunted by ghosts from the British Raj and their presence is felt during the night. .
