Traveling in the desert seemed like an endless walk through the sun for the DC-born Wanderer. But it didn't take long for her to get used to the endless brown.
Seeing the woman ahead, she approached carefully. No need to be hostile, but she wasn't exactly ready to be welcoming to the stranger.

Walking in the desert was both amazingly wonderful and horrifically awful. On one hand, a new territory was always enjoyable; Summer had always been the explorer type. But it was hotter than the Capital Wastes, and Summer didn't like the heat.
Taking shelter in the garage of an old gas station, Summer took out a bottle of Aqua Pura and all but inhaled it. Mid-drink, she looked up.
Footsteps. Had someone been following her? She readied her baseball bat, holding her breath.

Walking. Oh, there had been so much walking. She wasn't sure if she could keep going. It had been nightfall when she finally had to stop. The glowing tower in the distance had to wait. She looked around and stopped suddenly. A... dinosaur?
She climbed on top of a boulder, trying to see the shape in its open mouth. Was that a man? She tried to wave, and get his attention.
God, she hoped he wasn't a lunatic.
