Leaving for the Mojave Dessert in fifty minutes. The next critical packing choice: footwear. My twenty-year-old LL Bean Crestas got a nasty gash in the side from some obsidian years ago. The repair finally failed. Tried on a dozen new boots, including ones up to $400 and ended up with a new pair of Crestas. So far so good. This will be a good first major trip for them.
