arlo’s mechanical arm started out as just a Cool Design Idea i had, but as i fell more into the pit of wikipedia articles i thought up of a way that it could actually work (at least, in this fictional setting, where i would describe it as science but slightly wrong) and so now i’ve sketched out a lot of designs of the interior mechanisms, and ‘progress sketches’ that i imagine he would do

oh also he originally didn’t even make it for himself. he made it for someone else, but they bailed in a moment of panic and he was like. well can’t let this go to waste :)

i uh. actually had a blank notebook i wasn’t using, so a month or so (? i think) i started making entries that matched up with what i was writing in the story, so now i have ANOTHER side project which is really only for me but it looks cool

4. Which faction did they join, and why? How long has it been?

for gameplay, he's technically a veil jumper, but for my Actual Canon he fell into the role because he's the inquisitor's son. surrounded by the work, the politics - seeing what it all did to his mother - he volunteered himself for the position

18. Their fondest childhood memory:

not a single specific memory, but a collection of them: bonding with a halla fawn when he was just a toddler, and having it grow up with him. arete teaching him how to use magic to coax a flower into bloom. the way his uncle, gaius, would swing iselen onto his shoulders and help him name all the plants and bugs and animals they saw.

25. How does Rook like to spend their free time?

in the lighthouse, he ends up spending a lot of time tinkering on elvhen artifacts with bellara, and he learned carpentry from not the stepdad but the dad who stepped up blackwall. he's always liked working with his hands. he loved the halla best, though, and no matter how much he flits between companions and activities, nothing compares to tending the halla as he did back home.
