Some chibies I recently sketched out. Might color them eventually but we've got my boy Kano on the upper left, my friend's OC Mokie on the upper right, Hazama (because my moots got me paying more attention to him) on the lower left, and the last one is my newest OC Zhenn with a snake plush ;3;
Loki spoilers up to episode 5 are in this post, so please be aware.
While I’m happy regardless of how they end up spinning the love between Loki and Mobius (Platonic love is just as valid and valuable as romantic), I can understand people who feel it’s too fast and too soon. That being said, there are some things that stand out in ways that, I think, support their close connection.
Mobius has been studying Loki for a VERY long time. He has developed an understanding of him. Mobius has had time to get to know Loki even before he ever met him. There is a manufactured intimacy there just because he's had access to every private moment along multiple timelines. Even if all those potential “what if” scenarios were possible to know about someone, that sort of information exchange usually occurs mutually while getting to know someone organically over time, but it is what it is.
Mobius literally knows Loki better than anyone in the universe or any timeline.
"I'd never stab anyone in the back!"
"I've studied every moment of your life. You've literally stabbed people in the back like 50 times."
"Well, I'd never do it again, because it’s boring."
Mobius just laughs, because he knows Loki. There's familiarity.
And for Loki, he's dealing with the Mortifying Ideal of Being Seen for the first time. There's someone who actually understands him. He has, essentially, an equal. Even though there is the power dynamic of Loki having magical abilities and Mobius being a human vs Mobius being in charge and Loki being essentially a prisoner, those power imbalances are only barriers when someone else (the TVA) presses them. Looking past that, on a personal level, Loki has found someone who can match him step for step.
More after the cut
On the train, Sylvie mentions she can’t sleep around people she doesn’t trust, and Loki, presumably, is the same based on everything we know about him throughout the previous MCU films.
And yet, he sleeps readily in front of Mobius.
Even on a subconscious level, Loki, who doesn’t trust anyone, trusts Mobius. He sometimes has to fight with his lifelong habits, but trust wins out each time.
Later in that same conversation on the train in Lamentis, Loki and Sylvie discussed fleeting relationships with others, but none of them felt real.
Mobius is real to Loki.
You can see it in the way they interact. You can also see it in the reaction to the pruning in episode 4
and finding him again in episode 5, the joy in seeing him and how he says Mobius’s name.
(Pretend I could find a gif of that. Just go watch it again.)
(And possibly, you can see a little jealousy in Mobius’s tantrum in episode 4, too.)
Loki has to be more himself around Mobius than he does around anyone else, and it has challenged everything Loki knows. Which has likely been refreshing for him, because Mobius not only sees through the bullshit, but he believes in Loki and expresses that repeatedly.
Mobius believes in Loki because he knows him.
It is evident even to other characters that they are close. Renslayer mentions Mobius’s tendency to be drawn to broken things. Sylvie outright tells Loki that Mobius cares for him after Loki talks about why he and Mobius get along so well.
And finally, Loki’s need to forego a simple handshake and draw Mobius into not just a hug, but an embrace.
They held one another, because they care very much for each other.
Regardless of the shape of that love, it is there.
We had to let Mokie go this morning. She’d started having issues with her back legs and was struggling to walk. She was almost 18 years old and with us for 17 of them. I’m going to miss her. The house is going to feel empty without any pets.
Something awesome from the furry fandom is that everyone is nerd in at least some area.
Like the photographer nerds who are carrying in their backpacks equipment that sometimes is more expensive than fursuits.
These cute nerds are Mokie Mutt and Yaps Fox.
A gift from Mokie to Yaps, who finally met in person during BLFC.
Traditional. Colored pencils.
